Guest guest
What other brands of food processors and juicers have people had good experiences with? Can they make nut butters? Thanks for any input!I have a cuisinart food processor and I LOVE it. It's fantastic at making nut butters, and is very high quality. I use it for all my baked goods. My little old blender just can't keep up with all the SCD cooking. I know many people on here have the Vitamix and it looks wonderful, but I was hoping to find something a little cheaper but still gets the job done. What other brands of food processors and juicers have people had good experiences with? Can they make nut butters? Thanks for any input! I do have a Vitamix, but got it after seven years of SCD for which my 30 year old Oster blender had served me well. For a juicer, I strongly recommend the Omega 8005? which is the current model. (Mine is an 8002.) It is expensive, but it makes exceptional quality juices, and is very easy to clean, which is a MAJOR issue where I am concerned. I have a Cuisinart 14 cup food processor, although I didn't get that one until last year? It was a gift from someone. It's great, but I did do 8 years of SCD with a hand mixer and a stick blender and my Oster, so I'm less inclined to say a food processor is essential. <g> There are some who are convinced you can't do SCD without it. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Thanks Alyssa! Glad to hear your colonoscopy went well. (I don't post vevery often, but I try to keep up with the emails)! :)Aw thanks! I appreciate it =) Do know what model cuisinart you have? Do you also have a juicer? Here's the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-10S-Classic-7-Cup-Processor/dp/B00004S9EMIt's on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. I have a Jack La-Lane juicer that we found in our attic, but I don't use it very often. I also have a Blendtec, which is a power blender like the vitamix. I used it every day to make green smoothies until I had to recently give up yogurt =( It does a great job, but it's DEFINITELY expensive. I think the food processor is definitely the crucial appliance to invest in. Cheers!Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Prednisone 10 mg 1x per day (trying to wean!!!!) Guest guest
Thanks Marilyn! I don't need anything fancy, but I was burning up the motor on my blender trying to make nut butter! Guest guest
I just bought am Omega VRT330 from www.2-life.com A little pricey but this is a life long diet so worth it! I love this juicer. It's very easy to clean. It's an upright auger style and makes nut milks and flax oil from seeds as well. I searched everywhere online and this site had a great discounted price and free shipping, and a 10 yr warranty. I got it in 5 days UPS. There are many youtube videos that show comparisons of all the different juicers, how to use them and recipes for them. I was using a borrowed Jack La lane juicer, but was not that happy with it and it was messy to clean, plus if you juice every day, reviews say it does not hold up very long. Does it also make coconut milk? Mara > I searched everywhere online and this site had a great discounted price and free shipping, and a 10 yr warranty. I got it in 5 days UPS. Guest guest
Hi Alyssa - I wanted to see if you've made the almond bread batter in your Cuisinart yet? And did all the ingredients fit at once? I just have a mini and had to do everything in batches - it was a hassle and I'm thinking of getting a bigger one. Thanks!kt>> > Thanks Alyssa! Guest guest
Hi ,I've had the Champion juicer for years and it's still going strong. Guest guest
KT, you can use your attachment to make bean flour. That's why I'm saving up for the vitamixUC-C 12/09SCD 1/10Daily, CLO, Magnesium, bromelain, acidophilus Mom of 2 crazy monkeys :-) Hi ,I've had the Champion juicer for years and it's still going strong.
