Hi

I had Upper and Lower advancement done in November 2004. The

operation was successful and I recovered relatively quickly.

Everything has been generally fine and normal since then and life

has returned to normal, especially as I got my braces off in

February.

However, for about the last month, I have been developing pain/ache

in my left hand side jaw joint. It is only really a problem at

night when i am sleeping or at at any time if I go to sleep. I have

started dreaming about pain in my jaw or it has woken me up in the

middle of the night as it has ached so much. The aching is focused

on a very specific spot on the actual joint area next to my ear and

in line with the side of my nose (where someone's jaw would click).

As I am only really experiencing the horrible aches during the

night, I imagine it is like people who have arthiritus and are all

stiff and sore when the muscles have relaxed etc.

The reason I guess I am concerned is that I have been fine etc until

this and I am 8 months post-op!! Surely this can't still be my

jaw/body adjusting to the op and change? Has anyone else had this

occuring so long after surgery? Maybe there are exercises I can do

to stop this/help it? I am not in complete and utter agony yet, and

so will wait until my next check-up with my surgeon in September

before I bring it up with him. I am terrified I will have to have

another op...

Anyone in the know have any thoughts....?

Thanks

Nadine
