Guest guest
I am 17 days post op and I also had a lower advancement. I know that every surgeon is different but for me I will also be on the non-chew diet for 6 weeks and he said that scrambled eggs is my max and I should mostly stick to yogurt and everything blenderized. I also think that I am going to be working up to a normal diet AFTER the six weeks are up. Hopefully this helps! Guest guest
Val, Thank you, that does help. I think maybe I've been expecting too much of myself. I'm feeling pretty much back to normal except for the mouth awkwardness and a little achiness, so I was thinking maybe I should be chewing normally again, too. But that's probably overambitious. Guest guest
You're welcome Luna. I actually feel completely back to normal besides the eating. It still feels so weird to me when I don't have my bands on but I guess it probably takes a while to get used to a new jaw. I still can't open very far, maybe about half an inch or something but I was given the go-ahead to practice this week so thats what I'll be doing... Val > Val, > > Thank you, that does help. Guest guest
Hi Val, How tightly banded are you? I was double-banded for the first week but now am single-banded. I'm allowed to take them off for eating and hygiene, but sometimes I forget to put them back on for a while. Luna
Guest guest
Luna, I was double-banded until my appointment with my OS yesterday which means I was double for 16 days and now I am single. You are sure progressing quickly! Single feels weird for me but it is good because I can talk better. I'm sure I will get used to it quickly. I am also allowed to take them off for eating and brushing. Val > Hi Val, > > How tightly banded are you? I was double-banded for the first week but > now am single-banded. Guest guest
Hey, I am still pre-op, but with all of the pain in my jaw, I have gotten used to eating w/o chewing. Try using your tounge to chew for you...since you had lower advancement, sort of smoosh the food to the. It may work for you, but it may not. If you cannot chew, it is an option.
