Just wanted to share our status.

As of today, we have been in 2 helmets for total 6.5 months and had a follow up on Tuesday September 22. We went form 17 mm down to 0 mm, with 5 mm improvement from our last appointment 6 weeks back. Yeah, it has been pretty slow for last couple months. We will turn 1 year old next month.

And I have to add this. Aman probably just had a growth spurt last week, because I remember being upset due to the lack of improvement on Wednesday September 16 and couldn't believe my eyes on following Saturday September 19 how filled out the flat spot looked -- so it happened just over 3 days out of entire 6 weeks.

Now, visually the back of his head looks great, there is still some flatness behind his ears, which is minimal and is not reflected in the hand measurements our ortho did. So the back of the head looks almost perfect and I could have graduated with that. What hasn't been corrected yet is the front left side and the forehead as well as the ears. Once these areas are filled in, it should shape out the leftward shift appearance of the head (I hope), which is still present. Our next appointment is in 5 weeks and our ortho mentioned that we should think of taking the helmet off. I am, however, worried that it might take us two grouth spurts to get there, so my hope is that we don't outgrow the helmet too soon.

The other things that saddens me is that I can still see the facial asymmetry while looking in the mirror, although it is not that obvious for untrained eyes when you look at him directly. My worry is that the mirror is the only way he can see himself and the presence of asymmetry would alter his self-esteem.
