Yeah - I think it depends on how lactose intolerant we are - becauseto use a Jodyism - it was like crack for me which, of course, meant Icouldn't tolerate it. Good thing I bought two bottles to save on shipping! <snort> But I know others do fine with it, so...And we are just supposed to use discrete amounts - in coffee - not for a whole desert. Mara

It says, " Note This is SCD-friendly, lactose-free, and diary-free when using

coconut or almond milk. " Caramel is something I miss, so I'll have to give this

a whirl sometime!

I successfully use Lactaid treated Heavy Cream in my coffee. I didn't try until

I had been on the diet almost 2 years though. But I don't drink coffee much

anymore. 52 days caffiene free YAY! Well last week I had a half cup of coffee on

2 separate days.

Misty,

How did you manage to give up the caffeine, if I might ask? I only

drink tea, and pretty weak at that, but over the course of a day I drink

quite a few cups of it. I know I would be better off without it,

though. Did you sort of taper off, go brute force, or just after two year

on the diet not really want it any more? I am not at 2 years but

tomorrow is my 1st anniversary.

Thanks,

Happy 1st SCD anniversary! I am thrilled that after

27 years of restrictive diet that you are now able to expand your food repertoire.

I have been amazed by your progress on the SCD!

:

It was the hardest thing I ever do. This is the third time I've quit and I hope

it's the last.

I tapered for a couple weeks then just stopped. Headaches were terrible. I drank

lots of peppermint tea. I had a half cup last Sunday then another one last

Thursday. I'm hoping it doesn't start me back.

In my taper I used decaf coffee that used the swiss water process. The only find

I found locally was the organic sam's choice brand at wal mart that was just $5

per pound (or maybe it was 12 ounces).

It was hard.

Thanks, Misty,

I was afraid it would be awfully hard. I know I drink enough tea

that if I don't drink it on a day I only feel like peppermint, I do get

the headache. Good luck in staying off it.

You can use SMALL amounts of lactaid-drop treated cream in your coffee or

tea. Honey-vanilla dripped yogurt makes a good whipped topping in lieu of

whipped cream.
