Guest guest
Did you tell your doc that you haven't been able to keep the penecillin down? That might lead him/her to prescribe something else. Or to give you something to fight the nausea. (But be warned, the something else -- a substitute antibiotic) may be even more obnoxious, and often has been. One person who had to take cleocin (at least that's what I think it was; it has a rep for having one of the nastiest tastes of all) found that a chaser of strong, unsweetened hot tea helped it go down. You might try that. But don't burn your palate ... the tea should not be THAT hot. Bleeding isn't unusual, while the stitches are fresh. But if you suspect it comes from too much stretching of the lip -- watch out for an old vaudeville joke here -- don't stretch the lip! Good wishes to you. Ask your doc or his office what you can do to relieve the bleeding. Maybe ice. Maybe something like Amosan would help with the aftertaste of the antibiotics, or maybe it's too soon for the bubbles. Ask, too, about a Waterpik, but don't you dare use one without getting careful and detailed instructions on it! Best, Cammie > I can't believe its already day 5! Guest guest
, I'm right with you on the penicillin. I HATED IT! It made me gag and totally lose my appetite. I used to dread hearing my mom say " it's penicillin time " but I knew I needed to take it just to make sure I avoided any infection. Eventually I figured out that the best way to take it was by chasing it down afterwards with either apple juice or a chocolate shake. Their flavors were strong enough to overcome the horrific penicillin. You might want to mention it to your doctor if you can stop taking it now because if you're at day 5 and you haven't developed any infection then you should be able to come off of it. At least that's what my doctor said but I stuck to taking it for 7 days just to be safe. As for the stitches, it's normal that you have some bleeding in your mouth the first couple of days but beyond that I would mention it to your doctor, especially if he plans on taking the stitches out soon. It might just be your gums that are very sore but better safe than sorry. Keep up the good work and enjoy the jello. Sounds yummy! I had creme caramel tonight which was the most solid food I've had so far. Sara
