Guest guest
Here is our story: Or son Noah needed an ostomy when he was born. The ostomy was placed on his left side and naturally, he hated tummy time and was often placed on his back for caring for the ostomy. We noticed the flat spot during his 2 month check up. Our pediatrician told us to start reposition him and we did so aggressively (waking up in the middle of the night, just to reposition) till his 4-month check up. At the 4-month check up, his head had not improved. His pediatrician had never had a child that needed a helmet, so she was not at all supportive. So, I made an appointment with a pediatric neurologist at Tufts New -England medical center and she agreed with me that he had severe plagiocephaly. The day of our appointment, (Noah was 5 months) the neurologist wrote the script and had us fitted that same day at the orthotic department at Tufts. Noah got his helmet three weeks later. He wore his StarBand Helmet for 6 six months. I do not have measurements of the severity, but this pictures say it all. His pictures are posted under Plagio Babies " N " . I have never regretted the helmet. His head looks great and I can't tell you how happy we are with the results. Although his ostomy bag was removed the week after he got his helmet, Noah never enjoyed tummy time and always slept on his back. We are still fighting with our insurance for reimbursal - but if it is not covered I would pay twice as much for the results we got. His head is perfect and every time I kiss his perfect round head - I am just grateful we decided to band. Thank you all for the support in this group. You helped us so much with red spots in the beginning and the oder during the summer. This board is wonderful That's our story. ~ Mom to Noah (15 months) StarBand Grad 8/2007 > > Hi Everyone! > > Please welcome our newest Front Page Star...Noah!
