Guest guest
Hi PJ, I would ask where they want to meet. If its in the company cafeteria, I would just bring your lunch and say that you have a lot of allergies and its safer.(This is actually what I do with working lunches. If they want to have it at a restaurant ask that you pick the place. Then you can check around and find a place that will serve you what you need. Remember that they are after you to work with them so you are at an advantage. Take care, June > > After being a stay at home mom, I decided to look at possible jobs for one day. A year ago, I thought it would be too difficult, but after being on SCD, it looks possible. Albeit, I am ambivalent, but one place keeps asking me to interview, so I am thinking about checking it out, for curiosity. I am still so busy with kids I am not sure what to do. > > The problem? They want to meet over lunch. I do so not want to do this. These are busy people so a lunch meeting is the obvious solution. The two extremes would be to cancel, pick at the illegal lunch- and pay the consequences, or ??? I don't know if I will have any input to the food prep if it is done on company cafeteria premises- not a restaurant. They almost always have pre-made sandwiches. > > PJ >
Guest guest
PJ, is there anyway you could invite them over for the interview? Just a thought. Guest guest
Hey PJ! How about a meeting in the afternoon over coffee or tea instead? Can you tell them that it's hard for you to get away during lunch because of the kids and the afternoon would be better? -Joanna > > After being a stay at home mom, I decided to look at possible jobs for one day. Guest guest
If it's a job you really want, then you may want them to know something about your gut issues... sometimes it's better just to be upfront about certain things. Depending on the work, and how much they want you for the job, it shouldn't matter too much... Also, if it is at a company cafeteria - just bring your own lunch. If it comes up as to why, just politely say "oh - I eat a unique diet"... and quickly change the subject/ask a question... ???? Lastly, maybe you can just suggest that you switch the lunch meeting to a cafe type place (instead of a restaurant) where you can get away with just ordering a cup of tea while they eat something more substantial!? Good luck! Sounds exciting to feel ready to enter the workforce! Guest guest
It's great to hear you are getting your life back ;-). I've been thinking a lot about it. Really, I would take a salad with a small glass bottle of salad dressing (like Marilyn's 6oz. hurricane dressing) and eat that. They probably won't notice since men seem to expect that and women usually have soup/salad for lunch.  I used to know someone with crohn's on the elemental diet (pre-SCD) and she'd get a glass of water and eat the ice cubes. She had to do that or suffer the consequences later. At least we have more options. You could just take a muffin or fresh fruit with sweet dressing.  Good luck, it's tough out there so if you are getting offers, it sounds great ;-).  Debbie 41 cd  PJ, is there anyway you could invite them over for the interview? Just a thought. Katy ____________________________________________________________Penny Stock Jumping 2000% Sign up to the #1 voted penny stock newsletter for free today!AwesomePennyStocks.com

If they ask, tell them it's preventative medicine and don't bother to go into details. Guest guest
Hi PJ, I don't have any good advice as I'm still trying to figure out how to handle social situations with this diet, but I wanted to tell you good luck! They sound really interested in you, and I'm so happy to hear you feeling well enough to go back to the workplace. Good luck with your interview, and let us know how it goes! Guest guest
Definitely bring your own food. A simple " allergies " or " special medical diet " is all the explanation required, though you could add that you wouldn't DREAM of taking the time to discuss your requirements with the chef, so you brought your own. >The problem? Guest guest
Thanks everyone. I certainly was the " deer in the headlights " when she said lunch. The person I was to interview with will be out of town for a while, so it won't be soon. It would be for the future, not immediate anyway. I think the best solution is to just bring mine and say allergies and not go into it further. The best part is that a year ago, I could not have imagined this. It's nice to even have the possibility, thanks to SCD. I still love just being my kids' mom though..so we shall see... Many thanks again. PJ > > Definitely bring your own food.
