Guest guest
I would think the obvious thing would be for us to stop tuning in to his show and let the ratings get rid of him. TTFN CINDY T/FL

Guest guest
My biggest gripe is with for giving him credibility. There will always be people looking for false Gods or gurus to " guide " them. But, when someone who should know better supports or encourages this behavior, it's more damaging to the public. I just don't get her association with him...she sits right next to Al Roker every day, reports on the new scientific evidence of obesity as a disease, and she still promotes his bullsh*t. in NJ ***************************** > > > Thousands cannot overcome millions. Guest guest
I don't watch any show he's on. I stopped watching Oprah because of him, too. No sponsor on any of his shows will ever get my attention. His comments on the commercials I see are enough to set me off...I'd probably break my TV if I watched his show! Guest guest
You asked why people don't see his hype. I remember before surgery I was willing to do almost anything to loose weight. I went so far as to buy one of diet books. I didn't last but 2 or 3 weeks on it but surely hoped that it would work. I think sometimes we just grasp at straws. I certainly did. Since surgery it has been amazing that if I follow what most nutritionist have been saying for years, I do so much better. I do better eating 4 to 6 times a day instead of the standard 3 meals a day. I do better drinking water and crystal lite then drinking a lot of soft drinks (although I still drink some soft drinks). I don't eat beef or pork anymore. I don't feel deprived when I don't eat sugar everyday. I eat the fruits and vegetables. I love eating salads now for a meal. In 's case, she may or may not be going along with the program by choice so much as by the fact that she's an employee of NBC News, and they've scheduled this whole series. Using gives the whole series credibility it would otherwise not have. could, of course, buck the system, leave NBC and go her own way, but she's in a pretty cushie position now, one many female journalists would never give up in a million years -- so she does what she's told. And then, we don't know how she personally feels about Al's decision to have the surgery. She might be one of the ones who doesn't understand, even after seeing him on so many diets over the years. She look lovely -- probably exercises every day, watches what she eats, and thinks it CAN work that way for everyone. Ultimately, yep, it's probably about the money. I was in Rite Aid drugstore a couple of days ago, and there, among the many protein bars, was the newest one, with Dr. Phil's picture on it. (Too high in carbs, too low in protein, of course, just like the Balance and others). Everyone is jumping on the diet bandwagon, it's big money! Huge money! The diet industry spends more on advertising each year than the food industry does to sell us the food in the first place! Heck, if I thought anyone would believe me, I'd start the " Lyn " diet, and make my millions. Of course they'd have to touch up the picture on the book cover to lose that last 100 pounds, but hey, a lie's a lie! Me, Dr. Phil, , Oprah... ~~ Lyn

They have enough name reporters who could have done it, and I think NBC knows that Matt sure can't carry the Today show without , so they don't want her to go anywhere! I think she just doesn't get it...after all, she's never been there (here), and there's also probably a reason that Al chose not to tell his co-workers until after the fact. Maybe it wasn't just his fear of failure, but just maybe they really have a great facade going and are actually quite judgemental. Who knows? in NJ

Guest guest
Saying that a person could just take the easy way out and " have their stomach stapled " made me sick. So very uniformed. And making millions for being so uninformed is just ludicrous. As I said before, and somehow my about half of my posts never make it and get posted... He was not the only one to make such statements. I personally saw Oprah say something very similar. Speaking of a person who lost weight by dieting alone, Oprah said... " She lost weight the HARD WAY. " It is not just Oprah and Dr. Phil...it is all of the media. It is ashamed we can't change all of the media.... kathy ******************************************* The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. Guest guest
Apparently, Dr. Phil was on Letterman the other night. Now, anyone who watches Dave knows he's merciless when it comes to Dr. Phil. Well, I just saw a clip on Entertainment Tonight about that show, and Dr. Phil comes out, and says to Dave, " First of all, I know you think I'm too fat to be doing this.... " Of course, the audience went wild, and so did I. Gotta love that Dave. Obviously, we're not the only ones who see him for what he really is. ) in NJ
