Guest guest
I have been using reverse lookup for years when applying for a job etc. It is really not different from the telephone book for looking up by name. All you need to prevent this if you are bothered is get an unlisted number. That goes for the Internet too. It is not private. Anything you write can be read by others. That is the nature of the Internet. The only problem I have is the gov looking into our affairs secretly. The key word here is secret. Guest guest
I typed in my phone. Yes, it brought up my name, but when I clicked on both the Map Quest and the Yahoo maps, it put us at an address 4 miles away... Guest guest
> I recently moved, so like Tara, it came up with the previous owner of > the phone #. But at least now, I know why I keep getting fax calls > to my home phone # since the previous owner was a business! Once when we moved to San Diego, we found out that our new phone number had been (and for a while still was) listed on a webpage for some white supremacist group. We'd get calls asking for information about the Oklahoma bombing conspiracy -- and I would let them know very politely that I was a Navy wife with a Secret clearance from the Air Force, and would they like to continue this conversation? LOL! But seriously, this Google/Mapquest thing has gone on long before there was an internet -- Reverse phone lookup directories have existed for years, used my telemarketers extensively. Our city phone book has an entire reverse lookup section, where you can look up a number and find the address it is attached to. Truthfully, anyone can look up anything about you that they want, and there is very little to prevent this from happening. Your privacy becomes less private every day. The fact that we're all signed up for Yahoo right here means that somewhere there is a database with all our information. ~~ Lyn
