Guest guest
I know I don't post much here as this board moves so fast and since this is my third surgery and I don't have many preop questions having been there done that twice already.... and in braces on and off for the last 6 yrs... But I noticed theres a few people having surgery tomorrow too! I am in tomorrow for a leforte and genio. But I've never had the leforte done. I figured I'd re-introduce myself to those who joined in the last few months. I am a 31 year old programmer, 3kids, smallest just turned 6 months old, breastfeeding stay at home this year mom...Like I said this is my third surgery...not something I am proud of but I won't stop until the bite is good. But I should be wired this time for the first time and am sure I'll have more questions and look for blender recipies again. Yes you can forget your favorites! Alison aka Shiloh Off to take some preop pictures!
Guest guest
Shiloh, I'm having a upper leforte 3 piece and genio tomorrow as well. I'll be thinking of you and sending you lots of positive vibes. Wow, 3 surgeries. That takes a lot of guts and patience! I'll be more than happy to trade recipes for the blender with you as of Weds! There are quite a few people here that have been or are currently wired so I'm sure they'll be able to provide you with a few pointers. Just remember, stay focused and positive! Guest guest
Hi Sara, I think I am just having a leforte 1 but he said you never know once you get in there - lol..also I am having polyp removal in my sinuses. (I just knew they were there if they open you up and find them they take them out!) Wow, 3 surgeries. That takes a lot of guts and patience! =Yeah among other thing$ My husband calls it my hobby. What are you all bringing? Alison
Guest guest
Alison I just wore in a sweat suit with a jacket that zipped up the front. The hospital I went to is only 10 minutes from my house, and they made me get into a hospital gown as soon as I got in there. I just wore the same clothes home that I wore in to the hospital. I also brought a baby toothbrush in case the doctor wanted to show me any special brushing techniques (which he didn't). I really didn't need to bring anything but the clothes on my back. > Hi Sara, > I think I am just having a leforte 1 but he said you never know once > you get in there - lol..also I am having polyp removal in my sinuses. > (I just knew they were there if they open you up and find them they > take them out!) > > Wow, 3 > surgeries. I am wearing old jeans and an old shirt cause I am going to drool all over it. I also brought a baby toothbrush in case the doctor wanted to show me any special brushing techniques (which he didn't). =Yes I am going to go buy those things tonight I think a more sterile one than the ones in my bathroom are a good idea lol 3 kids...one in diapers one toilet training its probably not the world's most sanitary place. Oh and note to sell shave legs - lol Alison
Guest guest
Shaving your legs is a good idea because you certainly won't feel like doing that for a while. I got mine waxed before I went in for my surgery because I didn't want to bother with them for a couple of weeks after! You'll be surprised what a big task washing your hair is for the 1st time post op. Then again, this is your 3rd time, so you already know this. ) > > I just wore in a sweat suit with a jacket that zipped up the front. > The hospital I went to is only 10 minutes from my house, and they > made me get into a hospital gown as soon as I got in there. > =yeah my comming home outfit is the same one I am wearing (new > undies of course but) I am up at six am surgery at 8 I can wear > those home! > > I am wearing old jeans and an old shirt cause I am going to drool > all over it. > > I also > brought a baby toothbrush in case the doctor wanted to show me any > special brushing techniques (which he didn't). > =Yes I am going to go buy those things tonight I think a more > sterile one than the ones in my bathroom are a good idea lol 3 > kids...one in diapers one toilet training its probably not the > world's most sanitary place. > > Oh and note to sell shave legs - lol > > Alison
Guest guest
Alison, you said: " I put it so far out of my mind at six thirty > tonight I said oh crap I need to pack a suitcase for the hospital " My sentiments exactly! Despite over-organizing for this darn surgery I am now digging my heels in the ground in terms of actually packing! Think it's because it makes it all too real for me to stay calm about whereas pretending to organize for it makes me feel better. I'm not really bringing that much to the hospital because they specifically told me to bring nothing except what I have on but I'm still bringing a robe (as advised by Carol who was operated in the same hospital), a pair of spongey comfy slippers, a couple of style magazines that only have pictures (as advised by you), a CD to give to my surgeon to play in the OR while they put me to sleep, my iPOD to listen to in recovery room, a book to read while waiting to get into the OR room, a head scarf to wrap around my hair when I leave the hospital just in case it gets really greasy, and my cell phone so that as soon as I can I can text my fiancee' that I am alive and well! He'll be in San Francisco for business tomorrow and is wrought with guilt for not being with me. I think he's silly because I know I'll be fine but I understand where he's coming from. Lucky for me my mother will be staying with me in the hospital and I'm sure she'll pack a few essentials in her own bag for me, make up being one of them! Good luck and try to stay calm. I'm willing to bet this 3rd surgery will be a piece of cake for you having been through 2 already. AND after this surgery you'll see a definite improvement hopefully! The light at the end of tunnel will be that much closer:-) Sara > Hi Sara, > I think I am just having a leforte 1 but he said you never know once > you get in there - lol..also I am having polyp removal in my sinuses. > (I just knew they were there if they open you up and find them they > take them out!) > > Wow, 3 > surgeries. Guest guest
Well I am mostly packed. Got to hit the drugstore for the few essentials that I can't bring from home. I did pack a hat though - lol. a couple of style magazines that only have pictures (as advised by you), =lol I remember that post I got a big kick out of the book idea. I am not sure I had a thought in the 24 hours after, no books, no tv okay a little entertainment with the bedpan lady but.. a CD to give to my surgeon to play in the OR while they put me to sleep =lol, I do know of people who have done that. Mine didn't offer but he is my age so he probably isn't playing polka tunes. a head scarf to wrap around my hair when I leave the hospital just in case it gets really greasy =lol yes it does...remember they play with your hair too. He'll be in San Francisco for business tomorrow and is wrought with guilt for not being with me. I think he's silly because I know I'll be fine but I understand where he's coming from. =actually you will find it easier that he isn't there I found my dh being in recovery a pain as I was using energy for him so I sent his butt home. Lucky for me my mother will be staying with me in the hospital and I'm sure she'll pack a few essentials in her own bag for me, make up being one of them! =yeah mom's are different and he won't see you all beat up just half beat up. Good luck and try to stay calm. I'm willing to bet this 3rd surgery will be a piece of cake for you having been through 2 already. AND after this surgery you'll see a definite improvement hopefully! The light at the end of tunnel will be that much closer:-) =ah recovery is recovery! Off to gorge on fast food! Shiloh
