Guest guest
Hello - does your daughter have a helmet (with the velcro strap) or the band? Our daughter has a helmet (since August) and we went through the same things in the beginning; it almost killed me! I am happy to share ideas with you about the helmet, if that's what you have --as things differ when compared to the band. good luck! > > My daughter just got her helmet yesterday. Guest guest
My son got his Band a couple days before Christmas and he hates it also. He used to look at himself in the mirror and have this big smile but when he first saw himself, he screamed and turned his head to my husband's chest so he wouldn't have to look at himself or would look away or at the floor. It was very sad to see him in so much pain. He was so fussy that we had to sleep with him in our bed. He was trying to unsuccessfully take it off and shaking his head back and forth. On Christmas, I removed it and found yellow pus on his helmet and the entire right ear area covered with red swollen welts and it was very sticky, even after a bath. We kept his Band off to heal and now his yellow scabs are peeling and we are going in for an appt soon. Our PT plans on shaving that area to get a better fit. I'm going to ask our PT about fussiness and I'll post again. I think some babies adjust well and others... don't. We try not to get anxious about it so he'll calm down also. Additionally, he had so much heat rash all over his body even though we turned the heat off, put on a short-sleeved onesie and no blankets. (We do live in Socal though). > > My daughter just got her helmet yesterday. She is not sleeping very > well and waking up all night long. Guest guest
I just wanted to add that when he got his Band on again after a few days off due to some yellow pus/welts on his head, near his right ear, he was just as fussy as ever. He is normally a very good natured, smiley baby. But when it came to bath-time, we gave him his bath and then put him to bed w/o the Doc Band, and when we felt he was asleep, my husband lifted his head and I slipped on the Band, and he's been sleeping fine, just waking occassionally, but so far, so good. He's better during the day, but I just try to keep him very cool, almost cold--b/c he is really prone to heat rash. > > > > My daughter just got her helmet yesterday.
