Guest guest
Rach, I don't think you'd be in 'big' trouble, but you would get the feedback we've had here. Fortunately we live in a country where supposedly we can all believe or not. Do I think Atheists are fools-- no. Do I hope you have some kind of belief that can help you through the very tough times-- you bet I do. Do I hope that you can see the beauty and magic and marvel at all that is around you-- and appreciate the wonder of life-- however you see fit-- you can bet on it. Do I wish that we didn't have to waste taxpayer money trying to make people give up their process and impose their belief or lack of belief on others== You bet I do. I'd rather see us fund our schools and allow sports and music and the arts--as some kids can only learn through these processes. Do I wish that instead of wasting our (all of us contribute) taxpayer monies on the wording on our currency, that we could instead put those funds into medical care and coverage for all. As long as someone wants to go to an extreme in their "special" interest-- instead of seeing that these issues are already solved in our Constitutional right to practise our religion, to have freedom of speech, to bear arms, etc. then monies are not being spent on the fundamentals of life. All of us see it daily, when we have to "fight" for the benefits we need to be healthy, to obtain these "benefits" from a company we pay to help us if we get into the position we're all in-- faced with an illness that doesn't have the funding to find a cure-- That too me-- regardless of whether it is an Athetist, an Evangelical, a Baptist, A Christian, A Muslim-- or pagan or wiccan or a dentist in CA-- is not only foolish, but selfish. What if we turn this around and instead of spending our energy on the worry of offense, to using the amount of energy this takes to continue on-- to focus on how each of us can make a difference in how each of us needs to find the love, support, humor, compassion, empathy, joy, and sadness- of LIVING with sarcoidosis. What can each of us do to make a difference-- check out FSR, buy a t-shirt, a brochure, see about putting together a community yardsale where the proceeds go to one of the Foundations that are about finding a cure. Rose does an annual "walk-a-thon" and several other things over the years-- we may not be able to "walk" it ourself, but can you call the local newspaper and ask about how they handle "non-profit" fundraising events for people with.... I don't have the answers, but I still keep looking-- and I still keep laughing and I still cry and pray and hold each of you in thought and prayer and in my heart- and honestly-- I don't care that what your personal belief is-- I do care that we all need to know that people are out here for each other. Guest guest
Rach, I just want to say that Tracie couldn't of said it better, and would I be offended, NO, I would read it, and if I didn't agree, I would just delete, I wouldn't comment on it in a neg way. Like Tracie said, I hope you have a belief that will get you through the hard times, as we need something we can reach out to. My belief is what gets me through each and every day. We are here for you know matter who or what you believe in, we are here to support and get each other through the tough times, to laugh and share the good times. You are just as important to this group as the rest. There might be someone that takes offense and says something and again if you don't agree or care for her comment, delete, that is her belief, there's nothing to debate, you have yours and they have theirs. I won't go on, as Tracie said it so well, Thanks Tracie. Blessings, Marla Rach, I don't think you'd be in 'big' trouble, but you would get the feedback we've had here. Guest guest
Very well said, Tracie. I agree with you completely but just don't have the gift of writing like you do. The world would be a much better place if it could be run like this. Guest guest
I don't have much useful to add to what others have said. But, (y'all knew there would be a but, didn't you?!?) I'm pretty sure the Constitution doesn't guarantee that we will never be offended. I see t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. all the time that are offensive to me, but I just look the other way. Same thing with comedians, tv shows, music, etc. The one thing that might help is putting a warning in the subject line, so that folks could delete before having to read it.Ramblin' RoseModerator "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
