I will be having my surgery on Sept 8. I will be able to perform the

listening function of psychotherapy fairly soon. But when Will I be

able to perform the talking function of psychotherapy. I plan to

retutn to my office on 10/1/05. Does that sound like to little amount

of time, a reasonable amount or excessive. I have no idea. I spoke

to someone who was talking fairly " funny " even after 5 to 6 weeks. I

will be having both upper & lower advancement as well as tounge

brought forward and fat around my neck taken out. In hopes of curing

OSA. What have others expeienced in terms of recovery time needed

for a similar set of procedures?

If you can afford the time off, I would ask the OS how long you'll be

wired or splinted. The splint makes it really frustrating to talk and

be understood. Although you'll likely talk a bit funny for a while

after it's off (mainly due to numbness, stiffness, and elastics),

people will understand you a lot better.
