Guest guest
Derrick, The yellow tinge is very normal. It is the lymphatic system breaking down and removing the blood (bruise)left behind from the wound. Now you can visualize the exact path your lymph travels from your mouth--woohoo! As for oral hygeine, yeah it sucks to not be able to brush. But I wouldn't worry about gum disease just yet. Gum disease is usually a result of chronic neglect not short term abuse. The gingiva tissue is quite resilient. Hang in there. CPT Bob > Hi all. Guest guest
Derrick, Absolutely as Bob said the yellow tinge is normal and is a sign that your tissues are healing. Usually bruising coloring goes from black/blue to purple to yellow, so yellow is the end stage. As far as concerns keeping your mouth clean I can only imagine how yucky that must feel. Thankfully I will only be banded shut. However, I remember back when my doctor was talking about wiring me shut I was very concerned about keeping my mouth clean and he explained to me that I would be given a mixture to rinse my mouth with on a regular basis every day. Have you got this and is it helping at all? Sorry not to be of more help. I hope at least that your salty food cravings have subsided:-) Keep up the good recovery. Sara > > Hi all. Guest guest
Derrick, have you tried rinsing with Gly-Oxide? It's a rinse available at drugstores that gets foamy and eats away the icky stuff. I suspect it's closely related to hydrogen peroxide, which would probably do just as well in a pinch. Also, just curious about the bruising and yellow tinge -- did you have upper, lower or both? I've just never heard of this and am wondering if it's something I'll have. Luna
Guest guest
The yellow could be bruising. Mine showed up around the chin jaw and neckareaabout 5-7dayspostop. As faras gum care I had the sameconcern and fuzzy cotton mouth feeling. I was wired andsplintedfor 51/2 weeks. I gargledwith the prescription mouth wash my os gave me after every meal and salt water too. After about 2 weeks my mouth didn't feel so crusty. When I got my splint out after 8 weeks postop it was a little orangish but way cleaner than I expected. I guess on a liquid diet there's only so much dirtying liquids can do. Jane > Hi all.
