constipation side effect?

I have IBS-D, and now that I'm on the starter diet I have not eliminated in 2 days. Is this a common side effect of starting the diet? The first time I started this happened but only for one day. I guess it is still better than loose, sticky poop, but not really what I'm aiming for! Do I have to wait till I eliminate again before moving on to stage 1? Or can I go ahead and introduce 1 new food since diarrhea is not present?

thanks,misha

I have IBS-D too (although I also have complications from gall bladder surgery which contributes to my D) In the first couple of months I would have several days in a row where I didn't go at all. And, to be honest, it was a nice break! I think it's our bodies getting used to the diet. I guess if you go longer than a few days w/out going then maybe something should be done (those with C can help with that one - I don't know a thing about C!!) I would probably move onto stage 1 and introduce foods 1 at a time.

Go ahead and start introducing foods slowly and one at a time. I started the

diet with D and have experienced C from time to time. It is just part of the

journey I think and there are GI adjustments along the way.

Hi Misha,

I have IBS-M. When I started the diet, even this mixed pattern

changed. I can't really say I had more D or more C, exactly, just

that things were different. I think whatever we start with, we

don't just make one change and get where we want to be, the gut heals in

stages and so things change, and change again. I think you should

go on to Stage 1 and see how it goes. Be careful, but we always

need to do that when introducing new things.

I have IBS-D, and now that I'm on the starter diet I have not

eliminated in

2 days. Is this a common side effect of starting the diet? The first

time I

started this happened but only for one day. I guess it is still

better than

loose, sticky poop, but not really what I'm aiming for! Do I have to

wait

till I eliminate again before moving on to stage 1? Or can I go ahead

and

introduce 1 new food since diarrhea is not present?

thanks,

misha
