Guest guest
, That's how I've been trying to look at it too. I've been taking Biotin faithfully everyday. The last time I had seen my hairdresser was in the beginning of July and I'm do to see her again. I will be checking with her to see if I can continue to color my hair, I'm hoping so, I'm just way too young for gray hair...lol. If I can't oh well, will just have to wait it out. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Have a great day!! Laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/238/150 St. Charity Cleveland, Ohio

I have been losing hair recently which I know > is normal. The hair loss is " normal " for any type of quick weight loss and isn't specific to WLS. In the late 1980s, I love 67 lbs in about 7- 9 months following the WW program and after about 4 months or so my hair had noticably thinned. I had blood tests...all was fine and went to a dermatologist who told me that the quick weight loss is a shock to your body and in response...you get a condition called telogen effluvium. That means that more of your hair than normal goes into the resting phase which is normally 90% growing/10% resting (aka the ones that fall out.) At the time, he said I was about 50/50. With time, my body recouped and the hair improved. I've actually been through this 2 or 3 more times than the first so I've lived it over and over. It will get better! Guest guest
Laurette, I have noticed hair loss a bit in the last 6 weeks too. But if that is the worst side effect that I encounter than that is okay with me. I am using Nioxin shampoo and it seems to help give my hair more fullness. I have very thin hair to begin with, but it is very curly, so that helps too. It will grow back, I figured, hey, it's just hair. At least I'm 90 pounds lighter now. in Delaware Lap RNY 3/10/04 261/171/
Guest guest
Bridget, Congratulations on both your hair and weightloss...lol. I have stayed with a shorter haircut for those same reasons. I'm hoping to be through this in the next month or two. Keeping my fingers crossed. Laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/238/
Guest guest
Yes, Bridget. Highlights actually add depth to hair and makes it look fuller. I just could not bear to get a short hair cut. My hair is curly and it is past my shoulders. It is pretty low maintenance also. If I did short hair I'd want one of those cute, flippy, trendy do's and I just don't have the time to deal with that right now. But, ya never know, maybe some day I'll go shorter. in Delaware Lap RNY 3/10/04 261/171/
Guest guest
I just had my hair colored for the second time a few weeks ago since my March surgery and it hasn't effected my hair loss at all. My highlights were a little lighter than usual, but I figured that was because my body chemistry has changed. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are. in Delaware Lap RNY 3/10/04 261/171/

Than I am supposed to eat on 4 oz for half an hour..... I am not cutting my hair (yet)lol. JJ
