Guest guest
As for " when do I call my doctor about xyz? " My reply is, whenever you are concerned about it enough to want to call them. Seriously. My ex-husband was Internal Medicine and I FULLY expected our phone to ring at any given hour of the day or night. I knew that when he went to med school he was going to be a d-o-c-t-o-r. That meant that he was to be available 24/7 at least some part of each week. He felt the same way. Yes, there were times he got off the phone and we talked about how stupid the person's question was.....to him and to me, but that was because we already had the information. The patient didn't, they had a valid concern, to them and called their doctor for reassurance. That was fine with him....and me... I'm constantly amused when we call a dr. from the er about one of his patients and he/she or their spouse/partner, act bent out of shape....I wonder, What med school did they go to that they thought they WOULDN'T get phone calls late at night, etc.? So, my opinion is, my doctors are my employees. If I have a problem, I call them, if they don't like it, I FIRE them and get a new employee. Guest guest
This is really great advice for all of us to heed. We tend to forget that we are paying these guys A LOT of money to provide us with a SERVICE. They are not gods. (Even if they have way more education than I ever will.) Thanks, Connie.
