Hi everyone, I joined this group a couple of weeks ago and wanted to

introduce myself properly. My name is Joanna and I am from the UK but

now doing a Master's degree in Boston, which is where I'm having the

treatment. For my whole life I've always felt so alone in this, you

have no idea (well, maybe you do!) how happy I felt the day I found

this site – I wish I knew about it years ago! I've been reading

through all your posts and have been a little overwhelmed with all

the information I have to admit but am settling in now and feel so

much more prepared for the surgery – I feel that my doctors didn't

tell me anything about the recovery process, even when I got my

surgery date through a couple of weeks ago. So thank you to all of

you! Anyway, I'm scheduled to surgery on September 12th (yay!) and

will have both my lower jaw set back and my upper jaw brought

forward. Any other September buddies out there?

I have a thousand questions – but the first one I'd like to ask is if

anyone has experience with my surgeon. I tried googling him but it

doesn't come up with much. His name is Dr. Pushkar Mehra and he is

now at the Boston Medical Center / Boston University Goldman School

of Dental Medicine. He seems pretty good and at my first consultation

he told me that he does this operation every day and that he goes all

over the world teaching and giving lectures. My orthodontist, who is

also at the same Medical center, raves about him and what a good

surgeon he is but I'd love to get a patient's perspective.

Any help?

Thanks!

Joanna
