Guest guest
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh my cheeks and neck are so swollen that I wonder how my skin can stretch so far. Thank goodness for ice. That is one thing I didn't prepare for; ice packs. We have the one from the hospital, and I already had one, but that is not enough. I'm going to send someone down to the store for a couple more. M y surgery was to be 1 hr. and 45 min., but it was only 1 hour. Everything went very well. (My jaw was brought foraward.) I was only in the hospital a total of 3 hours. My teeth are banded together. That only bothered me once when I almost panicked. I can't keep anything down. I have had a little pineapple juice and a little Ensure (sickly sweet) and a little water. I really don't need pain medicine, but took it twice. I also am taking an anibiotic. I vomited twice last evening. I wonder if it's because I am not getting food with my medicine. I slept a lot. I thought if I sleep, at least I won't get sick again. I keep telling myself that this whole thing will be over soon. T hanks for your words of encouragement. Guest guest
Patty! What are you doing, girl? Get your butt back in bed! You are supposed to be resting and healing up. You're only one day pst-op. That must be record for getting back on line. I am glad to hear that you don't have a lot of pain. Happy healing! Guest guest
Patty, hang in there! I was exactly where you are four days ago. It DOES get better. My swelling began decreasing on day 3 and now (day 5) is barely noticeable. Keep up the fluids; that will help. I did a ton of pineapple juice and chicken broth. I also did a lot of self-massage, which may have helped. I think Tylenol helps with inflammation, too, if your doc approves. Hang in there!!!
