Hi Reni-

Sad to say - insurance didn't cover my braces. That was firmly spelled out -

and my dental insur doesn't have a rider for adults - so the I'm paying for

those. I really don't have any complaints because the expensive part of the

whole thing - the surgery - is covered 100% and that is a real blessing.

Hope that helps

This may be a little personal, but did your insurance pay for your

braces. My dental insurance won't because I am over 21. However, my

health insurance says that they cover orthodontics if it is a

necessary part of treatment to correct a trauma or birth defect.

This sounds great, but the request has not been submitted yet and I

fear that there is a loop hole. Do you have any input.

my surgeon's office has the best insurance person ever - she got my

proceedure approved not just once but twice because my employer

changed insurance carriers. (phew!!)

so surgery time at the hospital is booked well in advance. I've been

in braces for a little over a year now - although I never had them as

a kid. It was pretty clear that braces alone weren't going to fix my

overbite - and my parents just didn't have the insurance or the money

to do surgery when I was younger. So now I'm doing for myself.

head on pictures pre-treatment. Right now, after a year in braces -

my front teeth are pulled in straight and you can't really tell the

amount of overbite that was there before. Like you, I get lots of

headaches, and I also snore terribly because of my high narrow palate

and small airway.

consult. It's not that far away now!
