Guest guest
I am confused...if you are eating the SCD yogurt is there any reason to also take the suppliment L.Acidolphilus? I am going to order the GI Prostart s. boulardi for my son and was wondering if I should also get the L.Acidophilus even though he is taking about 1/4 t. of yogurt. I wouldn't supplement at that level. Wait until he builds up to more to take yogurt and probiotic supplement. Mara

Guest guest
Yeah - 1/4 teaspoon is like the lowest level. The yogurt is more effective in any case, since the yogurt coatsthe bacteria in something (forget the technical term)that allows it to to lower into the gutthan the probiotic supplement. Which is where you want it. Mara“I wouldn't supplement at that level. Guest guest
Eileen-- Fermented foods like (legal) sauerkraut and kimchee are also gut (probiotic) friendly. You can make these at home to ensure they are legal. They are also cheaper than supplements. As you increase the amount of yogurt he can tolerate or eat, he will get more probiotic effect. The whole family can benefit from the yogurt. My sister, who recently had some acid reflux, started making her own yogurt and is off all meds. Her hubby reports less belching and gas since eating the yogurt regularly. The supplements are costly--the yogurt is cheap. I recently figured out that it costs me 3.42 to make a half gallon of yogurt--I buy local milk @ 3.50/gal. and I figured in the cost of the starter I bought in bulk from Lucy's Kitchen ( w/ shipping).
