You

can choose to use organic foods, but you don’t have to for SCD to work

and be successful for you. Organic foods do avoid the pesticides, which

means it is a healthier choice. But organic foods are more expensive, and

not as readily available everywhere. The important thing is to choose

foods that are on the list of SCD-permitted foods, and don’t include any

illegal ingredients, so that your digestion can cope and heal. This

will work even if you don’t use organic.

I

live in an area with very few organic foods available in local stores or grower’s

markets. I purchase organic when I can, and grow some of my own

vegetables, but I also use the standard foods available in my local chain

grocery stores. During the summers I can talk to growers at the local farm

markets, and be reassured that some don’t use pesticides even if they

aren’t certified organic. SCD still works for me, even if only a portion

of the foods I eat are organic. I wish there were more organic foods

available in my area, and I hope that in time there will be.

The

important thing is to read labels carefully on meats and produce, or ask

questions at the local farm markets. Make sure there are no illegals, and

that the foods are on the permitted foods list for SCD. .

Been

SCD for a week or so, my big question is weather the legal foods need to be

organic. Chicken, Beef, if the label says nothing but chicken or beef, do I

need to worry about it also being organic? I did not see it in the book where

it specifically says organic. Understnad about processed food and all the other

ingredients added but do I need to buy organic red peppers for example. Do I

need to worry weather my veggies are sprayed with chemicals or not to adhere to

the SCD?

Thanks for all the responces in advance.
