Guest guest
Well, you may be old but you could need B12 shots too. Is your B12 dropping? My hematologist prescribed the B12 & syringes and I give them to myself. The sub-linguals didn't work for me, my B12 just kept dropping lower and lower. ---------------------------------------- Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.com http://www.5dollarhosting.com .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! b-12 levels > Hey kids, > > I was waiting for my next ferritin test to see how much the iron helped. Guest guest
, To me, your B-12 seems to be doing really well. I myself have always gotten monthly shots. My levels have never gotten above 400. If I miss my shots, my levels drop. I will tell you though, after a shot, I get a good week of great energy! I would love to know how I felt at a blood level of 800 or so. Dawn
Guest guest
Dawn, Why don't you ask the doctor for a prescription for B-12 and needles to do it yourself? My PCP considers levels under 600 unacceptable and I do my shots every 10 days to keep me there. My " natural " B-12 level pre-op was 1151, for comparison and I personally would like to get back THERE, but it's probably not going to happen. I have good energy all the time (unless I stay out until 2 am LOL) A year's supply of the vitamin and needles runs about $20 so it's cheap even if you're insurance won't cover it. It's easy to give yourself the shots and your doctor or a nurse can show you how. I wish this was standard practice in our community. Not only do many people suffer with low energy levels because of low B-12 in their blood, but over time as the B-12 stores are depleted from the liver (takes 2-5 years, depending on how good your stores were to begin with), you're setting yourself up for pernicious anemia which can be serious and can be difficult to treat since so many of us also seem to have iron absorption problems and low ferritin levels. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000569.htm Z 2 years out yesterday! http://www.ziobro.us/index.html Re: b-12 levels , To me, your B-12 seems to be doing really well. Guest guest
, I do have a prescriptions for B-12. I get 6 in a box from the pharmacy. I suppose it might be a good idea to give them myself...passed out on the floor here...lol. So what are your levels at the moment? And you get it every 10 days? Hummm...I really would like to have high energy levels ALL the time. On another note., have you or anyone else had a bad reaction to a vitamin shot? I got my vitamin D and a vitamin A shot over a week ago now. The A shot was fine. I could move my left hip well for 2 days after the vitamin D. It also bruised worse than any blood draw I've ever had. Now I have this dark purple bruise that is not going away and have developed hives all around it. I go back next week for more. I am gonna make noise...lol Busy week for me, next week. Monday dentist, Tuesday breast lift and Friday more vitamin shots. Whew! Guest guest
I self-inject B-12 and the only problem I've ever had is a large bulge that showed up at the injection site here I got it under the skin but not into the muscle. Bad technique, says my wife. So it took a while to go down and I got a bruise. No big deal. /john On Thursday, September 18, 2003, at 03:54 PM, Dawn Conner-Jeppesen wrote: > , > > I do have a prescriptions for B-12. I get 6 in a box from the > pharmacy. Guest guest
Just my take friend Dave on B-12 but got a set of labs couple of years back with level just under 400 even doing injections, and on the lab report was a warning that even though most " normal " ranges were from 250-1100 or so levels below 400 have been found to have some association with emotional swings, etc. Well,,,,,,as I am the original emotional swinger, that was nuff for me! I increased injections and slight amounts to where I do just wee more than ml every three weeks,,,,,that tends to keep things above the 600 mark, which - for me - is where I want them as a minimum. Just my .03 on it. Dan Slone Surgery 5/2/2000,Yahoo Msg navwriter AIM Navwriter58, ICQ 260890468 b-12 levels Hey kids, I was waiting for my next ferritin test to see how much the iron helped.
