Hey,I'm not totally sure it's always too much fat.... there is a lot of different opinions on what floating stool means. Some people say it's air, some people say it's not fat unless you have celiac disease (I assume then all of us IBDers too...), and I'm not sure why, and some people say floating stools are desirable.

if you poke around you can find endless opinions...here's a medline article about it being air. they say it's not fat, but other people says when it's celiac it is fat.. I really don't know, but I wouldn't take a floating stool as a conclusive sign of something, I'd look for other indications too...

Yeah, I don't know why they are preferable, but I had my first floating stool in

a really long time this week and got all excited. Then I realized I had no idea

why I was excited. LOL

Depending on the consistency; floating stool can mean a lot of fiber. Which is

not a big deal at all...

Fat in stool usually means floating with a visible oil slick.

The color can change as well.

Hmm, I ate a lot of beans (just lima or kidney with

onion/garlic/celery/bellpepper) so maybe that's why they were floaters.

But now I'm stopped up again. I just can't have much fiber at all. <sigh>
