Guest guest
Thank you very much. Spent time in prayerful reflection at my Grandfathers gravesite, He was a WWII vet. Planted a Flag and laid flowers at his head stone. He is buried in a Veterans section so I of course said thankful prayers for each and every one. That they and others were and are willing to but themselves in the line a fire to protect us makes me so thankful. I think I got that from him my grandfather. But I go go don't I? Tank you very much and my you be blessed . Greg From: tracie feldhaus Sent: Monday, May 31, 2010 7:15 PM To: neurosarcoidosis Subject: Memorial Day and Greg's Bday! Greg-- WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY AND A GRATEFUL MEMORIAL DAY. The sacrifices that all our men and women and husbands and wives-- and family-- are not without notice---and a special place in all our hearts. Thank you-- all who served, all who are serving, and all who were home keeping the daily routine as normal as possible-- in some very tough times. Guest guest
My maternal grandpa was what they called the sexton at our small town's cemetary. He kept all the records, arranged burials & was groundskeeper. When I was about 6, he "hired" me to pick up all the flags after Memorial Day. He had placed them himself at each veteran's grave. He said he would give me a penny for each flag I picked up, but charge me a nickel for each one I missed. I earned about $2 that day & didn't miss a single flag. I've always been comfortable in cemetaries, probably because I grew up playing in that little cemetary. I still love to go there; it brings back so many memories. We were going to go today, but it was so hot & humid with storms forecast that we decided to wait. My parents, grandparents & many aunts & uncles are all there on a hill. There is still a tiny chapel there where they used to hold services. I have a few wooden folding chairs that came from that chapel. I've attached a photo from the family's spot. Funny thing is, even though I love that cemetary, I'm planning to be cremated myself! Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
