Guest guest
There is a drug called epopoietin..sp? It helps the marrow produce more red blood cells. She NEEDS to get her numbers...some docs panic with a blood count of 10..and people survive quite well when it goes down to 2 with proper treatment. Regards~ Jacque Hi All...........I am in need of some info pretty quickly. My friend and fellow WLS patient had a hysterectomy Friday. I just got back from vaca a few minutes ago to an urgent phone call from her. Seems her blood counts are very low (she didn't know the #) and they want to transfuse her.....she won't let them. They gave her an iron pill to start on, but this is where my question comes in. I was telling her that I know us WLS people can only " utilize " one or two kinds of oral iron.........I just don't know which ones......I told her I would post and ask you all for help......I am going to go back and search the post too if I can.....been having serious puter problems.....in the meantime trying to unpack and get the kiddos ready for school in the morning........when it rains it pours..............thanks.....
