Guest guest
I have read the below joke, and feel that it does have some items that would put those who do not believe in God or a supreme being down. However, I also see a delete button on my email box that if I really did not want to read this I could hit. My question then becomes if this really bothers me (as I have several friends who are atheist and pagans), could I not hit the delete button and ignore this as others might be able to laugh about it, which with Sarc we all need a laugh through the pain and suffering we all indure on a regular basis? I say, lets delete what we do not like, and ignore what we do not think we personally do not like. Lets put our feet in others moccasins and consider that we all need a laugh sometimes. Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day! Gotta love this Judge! You must read this.......a proper decision by the courts...for a change. FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY In Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.." The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists." The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is ad jo urned.."; You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture! Guest guest
I read a story just the other day-- if we chose to make our social circle one that has only the people that think and believe as we do, and we exclude the rest-- then what happens when one of those people that thing and believe as we do has a moment of changed attitude. Do we exclude them because they have made another choice. All will disagree at one point in time or another-- and it sure makes life interesting. But when we get so wrapped up in concrete thinking, we also become very, very lonely-- and if we have started a circle of my way or the highway-- that circle is going to get very, very small. Guest guest
I am an atheist and I didn't find it funny. I wasn't insulted just didn't find it funny, but I suppose the point is if I posted a joke stating that people who believe in God were fools, would I be in big trouble - YOU BET! > > > > Subject: Atheist Holy Day > To: neurosarcoidosis , " Bettis " , Robosan@..., " Skot Stribolt " , " June Wittwer " , " Steve and Sue Kirkwold " > Date: Saturday, June 5, 2010, 12:19 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > This is excellent !! > > Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day! > > Gotta love this Judge! > > You must read this.......a proper decision by the courts...for a change. > > FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY > > In Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy days. > He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days.
