Guest guest
I'm just over 4 weeks too. I'm also still puffy:-). My oral surgeon and orthodontist both said it could take up to 6 months for the puffiness to not be noticible by me. It's not quite as noticible by other people now except for my close friends and family. Other people don't notice as much (or at least they dont stare....lol). About the lipstick, I've been wearing lipstick for about the last week and 1/2. I still can't rub my lips together, but I never could pre-op either, so it doesn't bother me. I just apply it one lip at a time:-). I had my upper moved up, but not forward, and my lip also looks smaller. I think it's the swelling, but I can't be too sure. I can't help you on the skelatal wires, thank goodness I didn't have to have them. And finally, when I say the " s " sound, my tounge touches the side of my teeth, but I'm certainly no expert with this lovely lisp I have going on with the braces:-). Hope I helped a little:-). Guest guest
, Swelling will probably fully go down after 6 months but I think you can expect the majority of it to be gone after 8 weeks. I know what you mean about not being able to purse your lips together. It's driving me nuts. Oh and yes, my upper lip really did get quite a lot thinner even though my surgeon says they sewed back together my gun line in a special way to ensure it didn't disappear all together. Unfortunately my upper lip was thin to begin with. Anyway, I think that as the swelling around your sinus area gets better and you are able to exericise and use your lips more e.g. rubbing them together for lipstick, the upper lip will get slightly bigger. Last question, when I pronounce the letter S my tongue does not touch my teeth. In fact it doesn't touch anything. It floats in the middle of my mouth. If you're worrying about a slight lisp don't worry. It will get better. I had the same thing when they desplinted me. It has been getting better every day as I get used to my new mouth. Guest guest
, Just a quick comment on the skeletal wire removal. I'm having all four of mine removed in less that two weeks. My understanding is that I will have nitrous oxide first, then a topical anesthetic and then four shots of novicaine. I've been assured that it will take longer to get numb than it will to remove the wires. I'll let you know how it goes! Take care, Carol > Hey guys! Guest guest
Thanks :]. 6 months gives me hope..lol. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to look like this forever..so that's good to hear. I think it really just takes some getting used to looking at a different face everyday. Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions! Big help. xoxo > I'm just over 4 weeks too. Guest guest
Thanks for your comforting words, Sara! That makes sense about the swelling making my lip look funny. I'm still pretty puffy under my eyes and all around my nose/by my cheeks. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed! And yes...I've suddenly developed a slight lisp that's bugging the crap out of me. My whole mouth feels different, so I'm trying to figure out where to put my tongue when I talk! All I can do is wait and see what happens. Thanks again, take care! xoxo > > Hey guys! Guest guest
Wow..all that? Ahhh. I hope it's not too painful! My OS made it sound like he would just tilt my head back and pull them out...and I'd be on my way..but it sounds a bit more involved than that. lol. How long ago was your surgery? I'm wondering when exactly he'll be removing mine..They're kind of driving me nuts because they keep rubbing on my lips a bit. Definitely keep me posted if ya can! Good luck! I'm sure it'll feel much nicer having them out:] Thanks Carol! xoxo > > Hey guys! I posted a few weeks ago when I was panicking after my > > surgery..lol, thanks again for all your words of wisdom.
