Guest guest
I'm sure it ain't that bad cuz I've been there and I had to wear them 24/7 for 12 months. Give it some time and if you are still freaked then go see your orthodontist. They don't give out retainers on a whim, I know there reasons you got the kind that you did, mainly to retain the teeth in their perfect position. Guest guest
, I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I just wanted to comment on the tongue thrust issue. I was a thruster and very concernd that it hadn't been addressed pre-surgery. My Surgeon assured me that after being wired shut and splinted for 2 months, along with the changes from surgery, I wouldn't have the issue any more. And, lo-and- behold, I don't. I'm not sure how/why ... but I'm very grateful and hopeful that I won't relapse. Take care, Carol > Hi everyone > I just got my retainer today, and it's HORRIBLE. Guest guest
Thanks so much for your comment Carol. That does make me feel a little better... I guess I'm just the worrying sort. My jaw sure gets sore though trying to swallow with the retainer in, but hopefully it will get better with time, I've got my fingers crossed. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post - > , > I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I just wanted to > comment on the tongue thrust issue. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Mia. You're right, my orthodontist gave them to me to help keep my teeth in their new position where they are straight and touch for the first time in my life, which is where I want to keep them!! I just wish the retainer weren't sooo annoying and painful to talk with lol - > I'm sure it ain't that bad cuz I've been there and I had to wear them 24/7 for > 12 months.
