I am 52 years old and when we looked at my expected weight loss at my initial consult, I was told it would be about 80% of my excess weight. That puts my goal weight at about 220 lbs. I will be pleased as punch when I get that low. If I do reach that goal, I may want to try for lower but I will decide that when I get there. I bought a pair of sweats this weekend and the were a men's 1X. Before surgery I wore a 6X. Yesterday I took my 12 year old son to see Spy Games. I actually fits in the seats. Before I had to sit in the handicap seat so I could lift up one arm of the chair.>>>>> DEANNA: CONGRATS!!! That's so great!!!! One thought though, my starting weight was 430lbs and wore a size 32. I am now around 300lbs and wear a womans 24. My goal weight is 170lbs. I am 5'9 " tall and I am big all over. Always have been. I think maybe 170 might be too small. Anyone else that was this height and started this large. What was your goal weight?>>>>> I don't know if it's too small -- I'm 5'10 " and started out at 307 (bmi 45). My 'goal' is around 170 (or between 160-170). So far, at 10 months out, I'm 201 (before beginning a nasty plateau and gaining 3 lbs in the process LOL) .... so I'm not totally sure if I'll make that 'goal' or if my body will be 'comfortable' at that level. If you made 170, you'd have lost 130 lbs more than me, so that would be extremely impressive! :) Sorry, I didn't really exactly answer your question because my starting bmi was less but I just wanted to say that I have the same goal as you do and am about the same height. I think 170 would be great --- I feel and look great here at around 200 lbs, actually (I'm a size 16 and everyone is noticing the weight loss -- many comment that I don't need to lose 'another lb', although I would like to get lower to have a healthier bmi). I don't think 170 would be too small for your height, but even around 200 is a really nice, comfortable size for me and most likely would be for you, too! :) <<<<<Life is Grand and I have God, my sweet hubby and Dr. Deveny to Thank for this.>>>> I also thank God every day for finding my surgeon (Dr. Gagner), leading me through an uncomplicated surgery and extremely smooth recovery (which will continue, God willing)...
