Guest guest
Mia, I certainly didn't mean to offend you by referring to the LeFort as yucky: I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings - that was not my intention. My wonderful Surgeon has already explained the entire procedure to me and I DO understand the benefits; I'm not as shocked about it as I was last week, but I do believe I need to talk some more with my OMS about this. He knows that I will eventually agree to let him do it, but he also knows that right now I have a VERY FULL plate of other things going on in my life, and he is very sensitive, caring and thoughtful of my feelings to NOT to push the LeFort down my throat. I completely trust my Surgeon and know without a shadow of a doubt that he will take excellent care of me throughout the three procedures, into the complete process of recovery, and beyond. He will be doing other procedures on me when we are done with Orthognathic Surgery, as he is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon AND a Cosmetic Surgeon. Thank you, Mia, for your continued support. ~~ Diane > > > I left you an email. > > > > > > And BTW le fort is not yuckier than anything else! ;-p > > > > > > Mia > > >
Guest guest
Hi Diane I didn't want to offend you either and I still don't. I know how scary this or any other surgery can be for a person. I just wish I could help you to feel better about it all. I mean, it is relatively early so your surgeon coming out with those words this early maybe was to plant the idea that it could be required. After your teeth have been in braces a while and things have moved around, you may need only one of the proposed procedures instead of both. It sucks to be the patient and to have to wait and see all the time. Please know that you do have my support even though you think it is yucky. It's ok for you to feel that way, just know that I will always be here to argue that one point. It is not yucky. Guest guest
Hello, Mia - I think my Surgeon believes the LeFort procedure is indeed necessary because he says I have Maxillary Hypoplasia; I have a midface deficit. The maxilla needs to be advanced approximately 4 mm. My resting smile shows only lower teeth, instead of showing the uppers. He feels the surgery is indeed warranted to balance out my face. One of my pre-braces pictures (the profile) that my OD gave me a few weeks ago clearly demonstrates that my midface failed to sufficiently grow like it should've. I will ask my surgeon to show me my cephalometric xray, as I am curious to see how it correlates with the picture. Incidentally, those pictures will be uploaded off the floppy disk sometime really soon, so all of you can see my ugly mug! ~~ Diane > > > > > I left you an email. > > > > > > > > > > And BTW le fort is not yuckier than anything else! ;-p > > > > > > > > > > Mia > > > > >
