Hi,

I am echoing--ok, semi-echoing-- or adding something to echo re:

cooking esp squash.

While they are yum baked in oven, I use the microwave.

Esp in summer.

Same basic method: cut squash in half, remove any seed, can brush w

olive oil or butter, place facedown on dish

and zap it. I usually let a half go for abt 10 minutes--- I am not

precise about this. I pick a number, say 1, and push it four times,

so 11.11 or 11 minutes, 11 secs.

What can I say. it works.

It's Summer! I have had terrific meals of steamed--in microwave--

spagghetti squash with yum pesto! I love pesto. This year am really

getting my fill.

Eat well!

Not legal. Spirulina is a blue-green algae and not legal. Grains are

not legal.

I'm going to ask the same question I always ask

people who want to take protein powder. Which is

why, when there are great things like eggs and

yogurt and cheese and meats, do you need a protein powder?

Butternut squash is EASY to fix. Slice in half

lengthwise. Scrape seeds out. Place, cut side

down on a cooking sheet. Bake at 300 for up to an

hour or until tender. Scrape pulp out of shells.

Blend with lots of butter and a touch of white

pepper. If you want the mix sweeter and can

tolerate the extra fruit, bake some pears at the same time, and add

them in.

You can also cook squash in the slow cooker. It takes way longer than the microwave (or oven), of course, but it doesn't heat up the kitchen as much as the oven does. Put it whole (don't cut it open) in the slow cooker with about 1-2 inches of water in the bottom. Cook on high for about 4 hours, then cut it open, scoop out seeds, puree and season if you want.
