Guest guest
I have what may be a stupid suggestion, I am not sure this will work for some but what about a Zone Bar (The Zone Diet, 40-30-30)? When I need some sugar and a pick-me-up type of candy, instead of reaching for something harmful I keep a Zone bar near by. Zone bars are the best tasting bars out there. Why? Because there IS sugar in them lol...but...they are perfectly balanced bars made extremely well without alot of transfats and with no after taste. They are made with the 40-30-30 balance found in Dr. Sears Zone diet plan. I keep only one or two bars around at a time. They are only my emergency food that I treat like Candy. The Chocolate Mint can't be beaten in my book. Taste like a mint flavored rice krispy treat covered in chocolate. When I have half of one or a couple of bites, I just rewrap it and keep it for another time, but the times I eat the whole thing? So what? It has never hurt me, satisfies the craving and is not bad for me overall. Keep in mind I almost always use the Atkins protein bars and Think Thin from Trader Joe's. Few carbs and 0 sugars. I do Protein shakes always...BUT...I keep The Zone bar only for emergencies. I continue to maintain my weight without much effort with these little tricks. I realize I am only 2.5 years out, but I am hopeful they continue to work for me. Hugs, Carol G. (who realizes that probably the biggest trick she does to maintain is working out and lifting.) > The problem with any sugary candy during a hypoglycemic reaction is that the > candy will certainly bring your blood sugar back up quickly, but if you > don't follow it right up with some type of protein, the insulin will pour > out and your blood sugar will plummet again. Guest guest
When I need some sugar and a pick-me-up type of candy, instead of reaching for something harmful I keep a Zone bar near by. ======================================= I discovered the Zone Bars about 5 months after surgery and almost always have one in my pocketbook, the glove compartment of my car in the winter time not summer, and in my school bag for school. Also always have a bottle of Fruit 2-O in my school bag and in the car. Use the Zone bars only for emergencies too. Come in handy when I'm away from home longer than I had anticipated. Same with the water. Only problem with leaving the water in my car in the winter is that it freezes and in the summer, gets incredibly, disgustingly hot. Going to get one of those car coolers so they stay perfect all year round. : ) Favorite Zone Bars are Chocolate Raspberry and Double Chocolate. Also use the Carb Rite Brownie Bars too. Can you tell I like chocolate? Regina
