Guest guest
Hey , Wow, I am so sorry to hear that. I cannot imagine what you must be going through. Keep everyone updated on your progress...especially if you have to have the plates replaced! I will be thinking about you. And worrying, as I am going in for my surgery in 3 weeks! Guest guest
-Sara, That's awful!! I'm so sorry for you. You sound like you're handling it all very well, though. I wish I could offer some good advice, but I'm about three weeks pre-op (If I don't change my mind; see " Questioning my Sanity " ). Hang in there, girl! I'll be praying for you. Guest guest
Hi , I am so sorry you have had this ordeal! Infection can really set the timeclock backward. I am glad they are looking at replacing the plates to perhaps bet a better handle on the healing. You have really been through the ringer, but it sounds like you are taking it well and that your boss has been fantastic with you. I am glad for that. Hang in there! Please let us know how things progress for you. Do you have a timeline when they will consider replacing the plates? And Welcome to the board by the way! Hugs, Fran > Hello, > > I had a Le Fort 1 and 2, osteotomy, had my nose lengthened and > surgery on my cheek bones. I spent 8 days in hospital (longer than > anticipated). Guest guest
Hi Fran, I saw my maxillofacial surgeon yesterday and he took some new x-rays which showed the infection. I will have an MRI scan on Tuesday and probably have the plates taken out on Wednesday. The antibiotics aren't doing anything for the infection so the plates do have to come out. They might even have to re-do the bone graft depening on how far the infection has gone. And they will also have to re-open the scar on my head to take the plates by my nose out, just as my hair's starting to grow back. It's been 12 weeks since my surgery. My boss has been great which is a big help and I know my job is safe. I have been signed off work for a further month. fran wrote: Hi , I am so sorry you have had this ordeal!
