Guest guest
My idea of comfort food is a pretty parfait glass layered with chocolate mousse and cool whip and sprinkled with some nuts on top.. of course sugar free mousse.. and made without out milk.. Guest guest
You and popcorn. Sheesh. Popcorn would be harmless for anyone but you. Guest guest
comfort foods are soft carbs -- mac & cheese, mashed taters & gravy, and ice cream but now when I get one of those " needs " I *try* to at least eat protein -- sometimes I do, sometimes I dont -- I keep telling myself mac & cheese has protein. Guest guest
I believe it is the crunch and the salt. If it wasn't popcorn, it would be pretzels. Guest guest
In our family the comfort food is macaroni and milk -- whenever you're sick, not feeling up to par, life's been mean to you -- the solution is macaroni and milk. It must be elbow macaroni, cooked a la dente, milk added and slowly warmed with a nice pat of butter in the middle. Add salt and pepper to taste and find consolation... One Christmas my son-in-law made up a mess of eggnog with lotsa rum and put it in rinsed out milk containers. We made up a big pot of macaroni and milk for my sick daughter (and we all had to have some, f course). Yup...you guessed it. It was really bad; plain milk is required. Guest guest
Sick food was plain toast and tea, or if there was money, Ginger Ale. To this day, Ginger Ale feels like love. Guest guest
My mom always made me cinnamon toast and tea with milk in it. Now that God has inspired the world to create Splenda and lowcarb bread, I can still make it for myself (without the milk though. Ick.) Amazing that I can remember so clearly how she fed me when I was sick. She died 40 years ago today. I was 14. hugs, Ann

" Two slices of buttered white bread toast in a bowl, with warm milk poured over, and both sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Oh, it was gooooooooooooood. When everything was falling apart in my marriage a month ago, reese's comforted me greatly---although they comforted me SO much that I gained 10 pounds! I've stopped eating them for a week and a half and I lost 14 pounds, LOL. I have had a few here and there this week cause it's been a very stressful week, but I won't binge on them again like I did a month ago---I kinda wish they had caused me to dump! :-) Open RNY June 4th, 2002 Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery Dr. Sonpal 285/141/where ever my body decides to stop!! Guest guest
I have very conventional picks for favorite comfort foods: pot roast with mashed potatoes & carrots, shephard's pie ( really anything with mashed potatoes), and any kind of stew: beef, lamb, and veal. LOVE stew. Of course everyone's favorite macaroni and cheese. BUT has anyone ever had a Jewish dish called (I am spelling it best I can) luxion kugle (said Lux-shun koo-gul), also known as noodle pudding? It's made with egg noodles, cream cheese, cottage cheese, cream too (I think), shredded apples, raisins, butter (I have to ask my MIL for recipe). It is WONDERFUL! Definately top line comfort food! Oh and I almost forgot: Eskimo Pies! Guest guest
Yep just don't eat to many. They have sorbitol or something similar that has a laxative effect. Guest guest
hehe buyer beware. It's sugared with malitol and I was on the pot for a day with cramps..sucked! I tried them at about 6 months out and then at 2 yrs out. Some ppl do fine on malitol. I wasn't that lucky. Not sure why some ppl can handle it and others can't. It's interesting to say the least. Guest guest
Hey even with the Malitol though ... or whatever, even if you don't have cramps the stuff is still loaded w/ calories and to me is not worth it. It doesn't taste worth the calories and I find I eat more because I am trying to get the " good " sweet taste of real candy. I do better without. Guest guest
Oh yeah, you JUST HAD to remind me of kugle. Good kugle is to die for (which is what happens to me if I eat it NOW), bad kugle is so bad.....ewwww. LOL I have an absolutely wonderful Jewish friend. She is older and was always a working woman. She and her husband had a wonderful jewelry store. They are now retired and she is starting to " cook " . Well, she sent me home with some kugle and I don't know how to say this kindly....it was so bad we couldn't eat it. Now, I have had GREAT kugle. This wasn't remotely close. So, down the garbage disposal it went and I RAVED about how great it was to her. Good thing she doesn't know I am not moving around much right now. She would want to bring me something and I know it would kill me. <grin> Debbie & in Gig Harbor (170cm medial) ladybostons@... http://www.cafeshops.com/copsstore http://www.marykay.com/debbiemcneice -----Original Message----- From: DisDog@...
