Guest guest
I have recently changed jobs back to my old employer. My old employer's insurance denied me 3x for the RNY, hence the reason I quit and took a huge pay cut to get it. I am going to have to do COBRA benefits until my current employer's insurance kicks in after my initial 90 days. Here is my question. Since I am considering that I may need a revision due to being too proximal or having a dilated pouch, (which I haven't had tests run to find out the latter,) should I continue on my COBRA benefits for the next 18 months in order to insure that I will get approval in case I need a revision? It is costing me $304 per month to stay on COBRA through my old employer, which is basically going to eat up the big pay raise I got to come back to work here. I can afford it, but am not sure if I want to lay out that much cash just to find out they won't cover the revision, (since I didn't have the original surgery with this employer/insurance.) My COBRA benefits are through Aetna Open Choice PPO. I know there is NO way my new insurance will pay for a revision. Trust me, no way at all. Thanks for your advice. Guest guest
-- You would be suprised I have Great West PPO and it is COBRA coverage costs me about $348 a month and had my fistula repair/ revision in May. A $15,000 hospital bill for only a 3 day stay and they discounted it down to hardly nothing and I only have to pay 10% of that which ends up being $360.00 Surgeon was covered at 90% too just stay in network and you will be fine also depends on how they word it. I had the lap rny through Healthlink PPO/ Century Planners back in May of 99 was worried about getting approved for the repair happened within a matter of days after the request was written. Guest guest
If you can afford it I would say yes. It may be the best investment you have ever had. However, you can also drop it at any time, you don't have to commit to the full 18 months.
