I could walk around a bit a few hours after I woke up, problem was the

RNs wouldn't let me. :P I walked out on my own two feet the morning

after. Ask your surgeon about lifting weights, physical activity and

such. I know we all wanna get into shape asap or maintain it, but when

you are bulding new tissues, overdoing it can slow the healing process

down. Everyone is unique and will have different rate of healing, some

faster, some slower. Your doc has your file so your doc is the only

person able to really answer when you can start lifting weights again.

Sorry, but answers can only be subjective or vague, really, unless I

have a chart in front of me. You'll probably feel good enough to get

out of bed the day of the surgery or the day after. Depends on how

healthy you were before you had your face done, what your attitude is

like going into it, etc. Just remember to drink lots of water and

juice that you like, after you get home. And take the antibiotics as

prescribed! I cannot stress that enough! :)

Here again, different docs have different ideas about what you should

and should not do.

I don't know whether you clench your teeth when you lift weights, but

some folks do. For them, that's not desirable.

Your surgeon is your best advisor on this.

It also varies from person to person about how much you'll feel up to

doing when. I did pretty well after I was at home, but I was really,

really weary. And there's the problem of burning calories, too. You

want to move around some, so as not to get blood clots, among other

reasons. But you will have trouble getting enough nutrition in there to

support the healing, so you don't really want to be burning up calories

with high-powered exercise.

I was out out for the for the first 5 days. On day 6 I ventured out of

the house for a 2 hour walk. Came home and I was exhausted. Day 9 and

10 went to the movies and was exhausted. Day 15 felt that if I had to

go back to work I could but taking it easily. Today I was out all day

doing doctor apppointments and shopping and I feel totally fine. Mind

you though, I was strictly forbidden from carrying any shopping bags

which brings me to your next question about weight lifting. Heavy

lifting of any sort was absolutely forbidden by my doctor for the

first month and if you think about it, when you do lift something

heavy you actually do use your jaw. Try it and see how your jaw

muscles set into motion. If you lift something heavy you could put

some unwelcome force onto your healing jaw. I would check with your

doctor and see what he says but if I were you I would stick to light

aerobic exercise such as walking or usng a bike after your surgery for

a while and no sooner than 2 weeks post-op.
