Guest guest
No, no one is at fault. The way the stapler salesman explained it to me, if I got it right is like so: the pylorus valve opens & lets the digested food out of the stomach, then closes so it can't get back in. That's when it works right, of course. We don't digest, the food doesn't go there. The valve still opens & closes, but not every time we eat a lil bit because there is not a full load--nothing to press the " open " button, so to speak. So, back pressure builds slowly. Sure, next time we eat a bigger meal, the valve works and open/shut. But in the meantime, backpressure can build and since a non-transected SL never seals completely, it disrupts from the bottom side up. Did I explain that right without waving my hands? I KNEW I'd never met anyone who actually outate the staples. Some who tried didn't. And most who do are pretty innocent of pushing the limits. The only commonality I see is that the majority seem to go before the 2 yr mark. Mine was late at 5 yrs, but my nearest surgery sister made it 7. Don is 8 now, and really, did not use good judgment in the beginning, had a near fatal leak immediately post-op, yet is still intact. Everything we " think " by nature doesn't seem to be right. Many of us were multi-row, and oversewn, as well. Some of my peers were SLD within a few months. There is no out-smarting a body trying to normalize itself. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
