Guest guest
So I've put a lot of thought into this - because my ortho said after the first couple days I could have soft pasta and eggs (I didn't break it to her that I don't like eggs...but that's another story). I realized, though, that even small noodles in soup I tend to chew a little. So I've decided mushing noodles between my bottom teeth and splint is not chewing - but a large piece of chicken would require serious chewing. I brought all this up because tonight Joey made this chicken/potato/gravy thing - but instead of blending the chicken (which we both thought was gross) he cut it into little tiny pieces. I did my modified mushing technique - but mostly I just swallowed those little suckers whole. I then panicked that maybe that would be considered chewing and that I had ruined the bone graft and would have to start over again. When I finally calmed down and began breathing I decided that I wouldn't try that again - that I'm back to pasta because that's the only thing I heard her say I can eat! I don't know about anyone else - but my stomach is all screwed up from the antibiotics (I'm taking keflex). I've tried yogurt, eating, not eating - everything that goes in quickly comes back out. I'm at my wits end. Maybe that's where the weight loss comes from? -becky
Guest guest
Hey, Becky - Sounds like you are having tons of fun with the whole eating concept! According to Webster's dictionary, chewing is " grinding and crushing with the teeth " , so I think that your technique of mushing and swallowing the tiny pieces of chicken isn't really chewing, since both jaws weren't directly involved. Huh--what do you think of my theory? That man of yours Joey seems to be quite creative in the kitchen - sounds like a " keeper " to me!! Sorry to hear that your stomach is a mess from antibiotics; how much longer do you have to take that stuff? Well, hang in there and keep up the good recovery - pretty soon that nasty splint will be removed and you'll be on your way. Take care of her, Joey! ~~~ Diane > So I've put a lot of thought into this - because my ortho said after > the first couple days I could have soft pasta and eggs (I didn't break > it to her that I don't like eggs...but that's another story).
