Guest guest
Hi all, I haven't posted since the day before my surgery just because it's been pretty rough. Good news is, surgery went as planned; however, I was really sick afterwards. I couldn't sit up without vomiting (lovely, I know). For those getting surgery, I would highly suggest telling the antethesiologist to give you something for nausea. You'd think it would be a standard, but my sister (who is a nurse) says it's really not. Also, I WISH they would have left my catheter in -- between trying to haul the nasal-gastro tube into the bathroom, my nose bleeding, and the nausea -- it was so discouraging to try and call the nurses to help me haul into the bathroom. Anyhow, got home Saturday, had to go back in Monday just because I was still sick and unable to get enough fluids, and I still have yet to take pain meds (or anything other than the steroids) since leaving the hospital. Wow. . . .long ordeal. I finally (yesterday) am starting to feel slightly like myself again -- at least I can get out of bed! Drooling sucks. Drinking Boost sucks. But hey, I know I'm preachin' to the choir. I got really ambitious because I was feeling better and tried to hork down (really, I horked) spaghettios, and now I have a few stuck in my splint. It might just have been worth it though!! The Doc. said I might get to have it taken off in a few weeks versus six - - - here's hoping!! Does anyone EVER learn to talk normally with this thing on? It feels like a ten pound chunk in my mouth. Well, sorry for so much bitching. I don't want to scare anyone who is pre-op -- it certainly could have been worse, and it does get better. Congrats to all who had surgery this/last week -- you guys all sound like such troopers, it makes me feel like a whiney baby!! By the way, for those of you who have Coldstone Creamery in your city, I would highly suggest the Cake Batter ice cream .... Mmmmmm....well, I've drooled enough on my keyboard, so I will check in with you all later! Happy healing!
