Hello,

I just have been approved for Wls after 2 1/2 yrs of fighten and I

am so happppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

And now I am trying to find a good support room where people do

support each other and dont fight all the time.

If anyone like to read my profile its at obestyhelp.com under

Margaret Lake Wales FL

Can anyone tell me what to really expect when I have surgery.

Some people have said the pain is so bad and some say they didnt

have pain.

Well I;m a big baby when it comes to pain.

Hey Margaret, I love Lake Wales. I will have to come up from Miami so

we can visit the local antique stores in your area. We can have

lunch, if I can eat (ever again HAA HAA ) I had discomfort more than

pain. Mine was a lap. The worst part was the gas pains, but knowing I

wasn't hurting myself was a relief. The gas pain was scary, but that

would come and go. That is sharp knife like pain under my left

breast. Once the nurse told me what it was, I was able to accept it

mentally and just hang on until it passed. The discomfort from the

surgery itself was tolerable. They gave me Demerol, and that made me

sleep. When they switched me to Lortab, it cut the discomfort and I

could stay awake, and when I went home I continued to use it for

almost a week. It made me feel better mentally - like a crutch- but I

could probably have done without it. Janet

Welcome to the group Margaret. I had my Lap RNY on 3/10/04 and did not have

any pain at all. Obviously having it laperscopically (sp?) it was less

invasive than an open surgery. I had my little intervenous pain meds and didn't

use

it but to get some sleep. Never for pain. Keep us updated on how you are

doing.
