Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm almost 2 years out, and have been lurking here for about 6 months. I'm a little freaked out and am hoping you guys can help. I waited until I had lost almost all the weight to begin exercising (only 5 more lbs to go). To my disbelief I'm having a lot of fun working out BUT I discovered recently that I'm gaining fat weight and losing muscle mass - they have a weird machine at the gym, a microphone-type instrument pressed against your bicep that can measure your whole weight distribution with a + or - 2% accuracy. I gained 4 lbs of fat and lost 2 lbs of muscle in one week. I have not really 'measured' any food (protein, calories, etc) for about a year now, because I've been very successful so far at listening to my body (or so I thought). I've already called my surgeon, and his nurse promised she would get me the numbers on daily grams of carbs, protein, fat and calories I should be consuming, but I'd really like your input. I'm not seeking to bodybuild, just to get a bit of muscle tone and be in general healthy shape (planning on a pregnancy next year). I've been doing aerobics and kickboxing, and running a bit. I'm 30, 5'3 " , 135lbs. I think I eat about 1200 cal a day, about 80 to 100 gr of protein. Thanks one and all for any help and for reading this long post!
