Guest guest
My daughter is 6 months old and our doctor noticed that she had a flat spot (back left side of her head) at her 4 month check up. I started doing some research and thought that she may have torticollis (which she does). We have been going to physical therapy and doing our exercises as instructed but she still sleeps on her flat spot. Our physical therapist says that her torticollis is almost complete resolved and when she is awake, she does not have a preference to her flat side. The only time she is lying down or has pressure on her head is when she is sleeping and in her car seat when she has medical appointments, other than that she is either sitting up, carried in a carrier or on her tummy. When we alternate where we position her in her crib she is still sleeping on her flat spot not matter which way we face her. Also, she is moving around in her crib alot in her sleep and always ends up on her flat spot. We live in Canada and on the waiting list at our local children's hospital for their head shape clinic for evaluation. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can prevent her from sleeping on her flat spot? She is sleeping on her back and sleeps a total of 16 hours a day. Guest guest
We used the sleep positioner pillow from amazon.com. it's $80 but for us was a great investment. kept my girl tipped off of her flat spot and helped turn her head toward the tort side, which is good stretching for reminding the muscles to be comfortable and not tight. hope that helps.
