Guest guest
And it will be my day. They have now moved my surgery up to 7:30 am. The guy ahead of my cancelled. Go figure. I guess it could be a blessing or a curse. If the surgeon is a morning person I am good, if he is not???????? But going at 12:30 meant that I was after someone else's surgery and lunch which could be bad too. Phew, I am just a ball of nerves. Guest guest
Dora - my surgery was the first of the day as well. I think that's when my surgeon likes to do most of his surgeries. Wishing you an uneventful procedure and quick recovery. Hooray your day is almost here! Caryn RNY Lap 9/1/
Guest guest
Vee, Yeah, I have to be there at 6:00 too. My husband is not happy about being there that early, but it will be ok. Dora
Guest guest
Dora, I hope that you will be as pleased with Dr. Melvin as I am. He's not the one that will be doing my surgery, but I did my gall bladder surgery almost 6 years ago and I just love him to death!!! > Vee, > > Yeah, I have to be there at 6:00 too. Guest guest
Hey, it is good to hear from you. I missed you at the last support group meeting. How are you doing in your process? ________________________________ From: teresafelts Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 2:36 PM To: Gastric_Bypass_Family Subject: Re: JUST 3 MORE DAYS Dora, I hope that you will be as pleased with Dr. Melvin as I am. Guest guest
Well? My husband was in the hospital last week, so I wasn't able to come to the support group meeting. I really miss them, too, when I don't go. It was nothing serious with my husband, but he's got congestive heart failure, so things that aren't serious for the normal person IS for him. He was dehydrated, his potassium was low and he was anemic and they had to give him 2 units of blood. Now, to me!! I've had my psych eval and my 1st sleep study. I went to see the dr yesterday for the results of the sleep study and found that I've got mild sleep apnea. I go back Oct 7th for the 2nd sleep study with the CPAP so they can do the adjustments. The dr said that my body wasn't taking in enough oxygen, or something like that. I've got to go the day after that sleep study for a breathing test. WHEW!! When I went to see Eve (the nutritionist), we went ahead and made my appointments through November with her and then on November 29th I see Dr. Hadi for an evaluation. My understanding is that at that time they will turn in stuff to my insurance to see if they will go ahead and pay for the surgery, or if I'll have to wait another 3 months. Thanks for thinking of me, though!! > > Vee, > > > > Yeah, I have to be there at 6:00 too. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I am glad that he is doing better though. That is pretty close to what I had to do. I am seeing Alice for the nutrition stuff though. You will be so surprised at all the hoops you will have to go through. Are you seeing Eve for your 3 month program? Just a side note on Dr. Hadi. He is very insistent that you loose weight while you are on the program. When I went for my final follow-up with him I was already scheduled for surgery so what he thought did not matter as much. But he expects you to loose 10% of your body weight. For me that would have been 40 pounds in 3 months and I only lost 5.5 pounds. I'll admit I did not try as hard as I could have. He actually asked me why I did not loose that much. Of course, if I could do that why would I need the surgery. I told him that I was hungry and I ate. But it will be fine. He just does not seem to have the best bedside manners I have ever seen. Just try your best at it and you should be fine. If I can suggest one thing that really helped me to get approved. Make sure that every time that Eve sees you she has Dr. Hadi sign off on your progress sheet. Aetna will insist on the Dr. signing off on everything that the nutritionist does. That is what Alice did for me and it went through with no problems after that. The guidelines do not specify that it be a doctor supervised nutritionist program but that is what they want. Hope that helps. Dora ________________________________ From: teresafelts Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 3:05 PM To: Gastric_Bypass_Family Subject: Re: JUST 3 MORE DAYS Well?
