Guest guest
Fay, I have no idea what you're going through, since you are ahead of me in recovery. But, I encourage you to just trust the professionals, and try not to worry about it. Communicate with them, and let them do anything that may be necessary. Maybe everything is okay. Fretting won't help. Let us know how your appointment turns out. Patty

Guest guest
Honey, tooo soooon. That's not good news. Don't hesitate to ask your questions, but there's a lot that can be done ahead of you, assuming the basics are in place. I had enough elastics to launch a space ship in my last month in braces, post op. And mine was a relatively easy repair, and I was out of braces by October, after June surgery, despite a month on hold because of shingles. (Don't ask. Just don't go to the office of a busy eent in a season where there are a bunch of kids with runny noses all over the place.) Yes. could be the full moon. could still be the steroids and anesthesia. could be general frustration. But elastics, brackets and wires can work wonders. Count on your experts!!! Tell 'em what you're feeling and sensing, and ask them to give you expert answers. C. > Hi everyone. > > Well, it's officially Friday, which means I am now 4 weeks post- op. > Everything is great. Guest guest
Hi Fay, I fell behind in reading posts so just reading this one from you now. I'm having some similar issues as you wrote about. My teeth no longer meet either; they did before surgery and now they're really out of whack. I've been pretty upset about this for the past several days now, and am just trying to hang on until I call my OS office tomorrow. I want to know if this teeth 'shifting' post-op is relatively common and not to worry about it like I am or if this is an unusual complication and if so, what can be done about it. If I totally let my jaw relax, it will attempt to shift to the left a little. These wires and bands are awful. I posted about them last night before bed and obviously dwelled on it so much that I had a nightmare that the bands pulled my teeth out. It was so real, that I was dreaming I was sleeping - then woke up to find my teeth were pulled right out. Then I really woke up, ran to look in the mirror, but then couldn't go back to sleep again for nearly two hours, even though I then realized that yes my teeth are still there and it was all a bad dream. I'm beginning to focus way too much on all these problems I've had since surgery (sinus and ear infections, uneven and lumpy swelling on the left side, and now my teeth and bite shifting out of place, etc, etc. I just want my ear infection to go away so I can hear good again, and I want that painful lump between my ear and jaw to disappear, and I want to have my teeth go back into place and my bite to re- align itself! Ughh, I really need to get to an ENT and call my OS office tomorrow I guess. Judy Hi everyone. Well, it's officially Friday, which means I am now 4 weeks post-op. Everything is great. No swelling, no bruising, feeling is beginning to return....Unfortunately so is my overbite and I seem to also have developed a small crossbite. I never had a splint, just elastics. I feel like my bite is good untill I remove the bands to eat or brush. Then my jaw joint relaxes into a more functional position, and my teeth no longer meet as well. So grrrrrr! I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my OD. I am frustrated with the elastics because I feel like they are just tugging my jaw out of its best position (for the joint). I was pretty depressed today about it. So much so that I haven't discussed it with anyone. I just feel a bit raw about it, and I don't want anyone to see how upset I really am. Could it just be the full moon that has me all worked up??? I didn't cry even once during my recovery. I guess I should have known it was a bit too easy. I'll post about what my OD says in the morning. Grrrr. Fay
