Guest guest
For a facial as in where they squeeze potential black heads and massage you etc? I would say that day 6 or 7 is definitely too early. I am almost 4 weeks and I still don't want any one touching my face. I'm having an MLD massage in 5 days and I'm a little nervous about it and that involves very light touches on the face and head to get my lymphatic system going. But then again I had upper so lower may be all togethere a lot easier. Sounds like a lovely plan though:-) Sara > I had my lashes and brows tinted yesterday so I don't have to worry > about makeup during surgery/recovery. Guest guest
Hi Sara! I've been having MLD for my swelling. I hadit the morning before my surgery (to open the lymph systen) and every day since day 4. I had upper and lower surgery. I have had very minimal swelling and only a small bruise on my lower right cheech. I do have some numbness below my eyes, on my nose, lower lip and chin. I think that the MLD has helped a lot with my recovery. Good luck with it! Fay > > I had my lashes and brows tinted yesterday so I don't have to worry > > about makeup during surgery/recovery. Guest guest
Hi Fay, Sorry to cut in, but I really would like more information about MLD massage, as I will be having upper/lower in about a year. Anything that could possibly help would be awesome. ~Joanne > Hi Sara! > > I've been having MLD for my swelling. Guest guest
Thanks Fay! I think MLD is great too. I had it after my rhinoplasty 9 years ago and it helped tremendously with the swelling and helping to get the sensation back. I also had one the day before my jaw surgery and I was bruise free all throughout my recovery. Fantastic! I am a little nervous however of having it done now post-op. My doctor requested I wait at least two weeks post-op before someone touch my face since my upper jaw was dissected into 3 pieces he felt it was too risky having someone touch it. How did it feel for you? I actually pumped into my MLD technician today while I was out for a walk and she was very reassuring so I am now looking forward to my appointment with her on Wednesday! Even more now that I've heard your experience:-) Sara > > > I had my lashes and brows tinted yesterday so I don't have to > worry > > > about makeup during surgery/recovery. Guest guest
Hey Sara-girl. I didn't have a lefort3...just one. So, I don't know about the MLD for you. But if your technician is confident (and competent) and she says its fine I'm sure you will be. My surgeon was really good, but he didn't know the first thing about MLD. That's not their job. I'm sure you will be just great! Fay > > > > I had my lashes and brows tinted yesterday so I don't have to > > worry > > > > about makeup during surgery/recovery. Guest guest
Sara, thank you for responding. It's good to know you feel it's still too soon -- although I do wonder if I will feel the same after only lower surgery. Well, maybe I will just wait till I get back home to decide whether to schedule an appointment. That way I can see how healthy my bank account is, too! ;-) L
Guest guest
Luna, I do think playing it by ear is the best way forward in this healing process. Every day you will feel different for a while and one day you may feel up to some pampering whereas another day you may say to yourself " like heck I want someone touching my face! " For me the hardest part has been letting someone touch my face even if it's just a gentle touch. I keep on having nightmares at night that I eat something too hard for my jaw by accident and that it snaps my jaw into two. I also get really scared when I'm in crowded places that someone will accidentally elbow me in the mouth and send me back to the OR. Lol! Paranoid much? Maybe but this is one surgery I don't feel like repeating! I'm sure you'll have an excellent recovery. You sound very prepared and very ready to do the surgery! Sara > Sara, thank you for responding. Guest guest
Sara, OK, I will take your wise advice and play it by ear (or jaw, as the case may be). I'll wait and see if I feel up to massage and a facial. I'm just one of those people that likes to plan everything to pieces .... ;-) Yeah, I can imagine being pretty nervous about having all that work undone by an errant elbow. Ugh.
