Guest guest
I have not been in this group long, perhaps not long enought to have heard from you before. I was actually taken by your words. You are informative but your approach is somewhat rude if you ask me. There are ways of getting information across without having to come out rude!!! Have you had this surgery before? Are you in the same boat as the rest of us? I thought this group was a place to get information, share information and ask questions to help educate us all by others experiences? I thought no question was a stupid question? Please tell me I took this email message wrong! If I did I'm sorry and if I didn't shame on you. fliphaven wrote: Let me give you all some cold hard facts: Out of 1000 Dr's that may perform this surgery EIGHTY are actually qualified. Out of that 80 only 20% do the proper presurgical and post surgical procedures ie Psych evaluations, dieticians, 2 year follow up with all of the above etc. That means that according to the New England Journal of Medicine only SIXTEEN surgeons out of ONE THOUSAND are actually a safe bet to work with for any type of GPS...and don't even get me started about those of you who would be willing to go to some third world country for something this serious, SHEESH! Just because the TRUTH about this surgery and the PROPER precare and post care may not agree with who you used or what you eat or how you act does not make it any less TRUTH! This type of surgery has been performed since the early 60's on an experimental basis and then regularly as of the early 70's and there is PLENTY of evidence to support all of what is and what is NOT healthy habits post surgery. Any questions? Too bad, I don't give answers, only facts! If ANY of you have any problems post op whether you hear it is common or not CALL YOUR DOCTOR and don't waste time. A good surgeon will be happy you called and happy to take a moment to calm your worries or advise you medically. and of those of you who are wondering and the hundreds who have written me asking me to come back here, the answer is YES, it is me...or rather, I. Sorry for the grammar.

Guest guest
No question is a stupid question and in fact the more you ask and even if that question has been asked before and answered before over and over it is still a good idea to ask your question. I am not an answer man. I researched my surgery for 3 years before getting it done and am a physician myself on the enquiry board for this surgery in D.C. and I was here before. Rude? I didn't know this was a Dear Abby forum. I am not here to kill ANYBODY with kindness but will offer the truth to anybody who wants to listen. I had over 100 members ask me to come back to this list and I have. If anybody needs qualification they should go to the National Medical Archives and New England Journal of Medicine and research the history of actual bypass surgery OF WHICH LAP BAND IS NOT! Laproscopic banding of the stomach compared to RNY or the like is like comparing a manicure to having an limb re-attached. Last time I left because of childish attitudes and name calling. I've been hardened since then because of the growing number of people dying from the silliness they engage in after they have this type of surgery and the poor pre and post op care by so called physicians. I am straight forward and if that seems rude then perhaps you've led a too sheltered life. I love you all, kisses n hugz, me <SEE > Let me give you all some cold hard facts: > Out of 1000 Dr's that may perform this surgery EIGHTY are actually > qualified. > Out of that 80 only 20% do the proper presurgical and post surgical > procedures ie Psych evaluations, dieticians, 2 year follow up with > all of the above etc. > That means that according to the New England Journal of Medicine > only SIXTEEN surgeons out of ONE THOUSAND are actually a safe bet to > work with for any type of GPS...and don't even get me started about > those of you who would be willing to go to some third world country > for something this serious, SHEESH! > Just because the TRUTH about this surgery and the PROPER precare and > post care may not agree with who you used or what you eat or how you > act does not make it any less TRUTH! > This type of surgery has been performed since the early 60's on an > experimental basis and then regularly as of the early 70's and there > is PLENTY of evidence to support all of what is and what is NOT > healthy habits post surgery. Guest guest
Nevermind... I read farther through the e-mails and found someone else had mentioned your name. I want you to know Ray that afer you left LAST time that some people were upset. That was before you pulled this shenanigan. You are being ridiculous. Have you had this surgery? you danced around that question pretty well. I understand that you read those medical journals although my uncle is an ER surgeon and has told me numerous times that they are not always factual and 100% correct. He would know too. I studied and read my heart out when my parents first approached me about this surgery. I was against it from the beginning but after reading the statistics and getting info from my uncle and other family members that are doctors I changed my mind. Living obese is far worse than having gastric bypass. The other night I was watching the news and there was a local story of a woman in Cleveland that had the surgery over a year ago. She got down to 150 and from then on lost a lb a day. She was very fragile lookings and very sickly. I freaked out, like many do after reading your insane posts, and called my family members. They asked if the news segment revealed who her surgeon was, where she had the surgery done, and what her lifestyle and regime was like. I told them no. They told me that for all I knew some Joe Schmo did the surgery and she didn't follow postop instructions. Just remember that we are ALL different. What is best for some is not for others, doctors are different, surgeries are different and you may be one with a cold heart online while we are all open, warm, and friendly. I am honestly and bluntly going to tell you how I FEEL. Last time I felt bad for you that someone had asked you to leave, even after you made a joke about me. I still felt bad and thought that it was unfair. I now understand where that person, or those people, had their idea(s). I feel that if you contribute to the group rather than insult and hurt this group than by all means keep contributing. However, if you are going to tell me and all my " family " on this site that we are bad, horrible, miseducated people than you have got another thing coming. Enough said, I think you get all of our opinions.
