Guest guest
Plagio is measured by comparing the difference in the diagonal lengths of the head. 0-3 mm is normal <6 mm is very mild 6-10 mm is mild 10-15 mm is moderate 15+ mm is severe Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 3, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 5.5 , 9 2 Things... We are getting a cast done next week and I have a couple questions My daughter is 7 months old, and we took her today to cranial tech in The Woodlands, TX. She has positional plagiocephaly only, but is 17mm... What is normal or considered acceptable? Also how bad is the casting, the picture look HORRIBLE! I don't want her to be scared, she just started getting separation anxiety and will cry when I leave the room What have any of you doen to help them cope with having thier eyes covered for so long? After that it is Helmet time, and fighting with United Healthcare. ------------------------------------ For more plagio info

Guest guest
I don't believe the CT offices do the casting anymore. My daughter just got banded and they did a digital scan. I would check with the office you are going to if you are worried about it. ~Kathleen~ Mallory 4.5 months, 1 week DOCband > > Plagio is measured by comparing the difference in the diagonal lengths of > the head. > 0-3 mm is normal > <6 mm is very mild > 6-10 mm is mild > 10-15 mm is moderate > 15+ mm is severe > > Molly > Novato, California > Nicolas, 3, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, > Graduate! > , 5.5 > , 9 > > 2 Things... Guest guest
If they do cast, it's nothing. Not that they like their head wet for 5 min, but that's as long as it took for both times. We held her. They put a stocking on her head, mark her ears and other stuff, then cast. And in 5 min the whole process was done form beginning to end. I was expecting all kinds of horrible plaster-of-paris mess, but it was so not the case. Many centers do the digital scans now, so you might not even have to deal with it at all. For the basic plaigo measurements, you measure in an X. From over the left eye to the back of the right side of the head, and from over the right eye to the back of the left side of the head. I'm sure there's an exact way to do this, but that's the jist.
