Guest guest
For those who sent us kind words, my 16 year old daughter had her upper and lower jaw surgery yesterday. She went into the OR at 7:20AM and did not get to recovery until after 4PM. It took almost nine hours!! She has been pretty miserable, but they gave her steroids stating before the surgery began and her swelling is much less that expected. We hoped she would come home from the hospital today, but she is having a hard time getting enough liquids in. So they won't let her go. Otherwise, the pain has not been too bad. She quit using the pain pump before the night was through. We will be watching and thinking about those surgeries coming up. Sara, we will be thinking about you on Monday!! Guest guest
Kay They pumped me full of steroids pre and post op, but once you leave the hospital, and you are not getting the steroids, the sweeling definitely peaked. Just wanted to give you a heads up so that you don't panic when swells up a bit. I didn't blow up like a balloon or anything, but I definitely peaked a couple of days out of the hospital. > For those who sent us kind words, my 16 year old daughter had > her upper and lower jaw surgery yesterday. Guest guest
Kay, I'm so glad to hear that is on the other side of surgery. I know from a Mom's perspective it's really hard to see your " baby " in pain and all " broken up " . I was blessed to have support from my Mom. seems to be as well. My advice would be not to rush her home. Better safe than sorry, ya know? Make sure that everyone gives her a " thumbs up " before you have her wheeled out. I hope that things continue to get better for her. I'm sure they will! All the best, Carol > For those who sent us kind words, my 16 year old daughter had > her upper and lower jaw surgery yesterday.
